of them wanting Curry are true, would you offer the 8th spot for:

# 24, # 33, Jerryd Bayless

Does Rudy Fernandez instead of Bayless make it more palatable?

Maybe then, we walk away with:

Fernandez, Hansborough @ 24, Sergio Llull @ 33

Then we don't re-sign Nate, don't re-sign Lee, sign Villanueva to a MLE and 2010 looks like:

PG: Llull, Duhon (if it makes sense to resign him on the cheap after this upcoming season)
SG: Fernandez & Chandler gets some minutes here a la Richard Jefferson back with the Nets
SF: LBJ, Gallo (should grow into a combo forward who will play a combined 35 min a game)
PF: Hansborough, Gallo
C: Villanueva

Also likely leaves more FA dollars after LBJ in 2010.

Wow.. I was just going to post about a deal with the Blazers for #24 and Bayless.

Heres the article...
ESPN's Chad Ford said in an interactive chat on Tuesday that he believes the Blazers will deal their first-round pick.

Portland has the 24th selection.

"From what I've been told, the Blazers will trade the pick to the highest bidder. They have plenty of young players and would like a little more cap flexibility," Ford wrote in the chat.

RealGM Note: Executive Editor Chris Reina has the Blazers taking DaJuan Summers in his latest mock draft.

I think we need more that deal you offered for the 8th pick though.

I would even just go for #24, #33, Bayless and Rudy for the 8th pick (and resigned Nate ) .. although I'm not sure D'Antoni is enamored with Bayless.

i would love to have bayless but i do think dantoni is not excited about him. probably his lack of three point shooting and he is strictly a scoring pt. for now. it is funny with this talk because on my nba 2k9 game i went and got bayless as well as amare stoudamire with lebron and won three championships. maybe my dream and vision will come true?

Isn't there a Bayless/D'Antoni connection....I remember reading Bayless discuss that pre-draft last year.

Is Frenandez a better fit in this proposed deal?

I think there was more of an MDA-Eric Gordon connection.

if acquiring the 24 means taking back Rudy and Bayless and giving up the 8, then just keep the 8 and pay Nate.

the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

Two holes to that theory:

1. Rudy/Bayless make significantly less than the $5mm you'd need to pay Nate.
2. While Bayless is a hybrid guard like Nate, Fernandez is a prototypical 2 guard.

I think the Knicks will try very hard to trade up--I don't see the NY Knicks trading their 8th pick in the draft for a deal that lands them in the 25 area.
Knicks have the contract[mobley] cash and high enough pick to be in consideration to move up.

Remember as well--Washington is a team that really had a disparity of young and older players on a team where they kind of went for it with salary. Do they want another 20 year old? Arent they best served by doing a deal that drops the salary a bit? We can do that with them with Mobley where we exchange players and pick 8-5 and then they can do it again if they so choose. If they flipped their pick twice--they could dump a lot of salary and still get a good player or future assets

1. they still will count on the cap for the next 4 years
2. Fernandez just shoots 3's.

so something like Haywood (makes 5.5mm) + # 5 for Mobley + # 8

$3 mil + #8 could get you up to #5...

its not dodoo in the top eight - you'd be taking a big risk to trade down
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Perhaps. The gamble is whether Bayless OR Curry is = to a top 8 player in this draft, plus you get a 24 & 33 out of the deal.

i am with briggs on this one. we also have to remember that this is our only first round pick in the next two years so we have to make it count. i personally wasn't thrilled with gallinari but the jury is still out with him. this pick is important because we have our needs laid in front of us ( pg and c) and we definately can take care of one of those needs in this draft.
