Jack (New York, NY): Hey Chad, it sounds like Stephen Curry caught a lot of GMs' attention at the combine. What's the likelihood of a team drafting him or trading up for him before the Knicks at #8. Should we be worried about losing him to someone else, or will he still be there for us?

SportsNation Chad Ford: I think his window starts at OKC at No. 3, the Wizards take a look at him at No. 5, Wolves at 6 and Warriors at 7. The most likely scenario is that he goes 8 to the Knicks. But yes, he was impressive and I just got the combine results and he looked good. He had an impressive 35.5 inch vertical and surprisingly benched the 185 pound bar 10 times. He's stronger and more explosive than you think.

Im beginning to suspect that Curry may become the number 1 PG prospect--ahead of Rubio. He's got size better athleticism and strength than thought of--he can shoot it way better than Rubio hes as ready to play as anyone in this draft--there are no buyout issues he doesnt come froma foreign country hes not 18 etc.........

Im suspecting Curry to go anywhere 2 through 5 but not lower in this draft.

Thanks briggs

Sort of like last year with Westbrook and us. So, D'Antoni saying they don't promise players might have backfired here... oh well.

It will be ironic if we trade up to get him and for Rubio to go after him, eh?

I think the Knicks had to pull a Frye on this one and they didn't realize it. They went half way with it and perhaps like not signing David Lee last year--it could come back to burn them.

Briggs, I haven't been on as much lately, but are you on the Curry wagon now?

What happened to Thabeet, Derozan and Evans?

Curry is not a player I want to see in a Knicks uni. I don't care how much he can fill it up. He's going to get us beat at the other end and I've seen too much of that in recent years.

Thanks John, you make me feel a little better. We really do need TWO WAY PLAYERS. I think with a better cast Lee's D won't be as bad, and Gallo already showed he is no slouch. But, that said, to have a PG that plays great D really disrupts the opposing teams flow. Perhaps Evans might help us out there a lot. Derozan seems to have fallen according to, cough cough, C. Ford. Flynn is rising and i like the "not so little" guy. (6' in shoes).

I don't know if you are going to be able to judge Curry's defensive ability coming out of college. He did averaged 2.5stls per game though.

He was asked to do everything for Davidson on offense. So to expect him to be a defensive stud as well, I don't know.

I don't know how good of a defender he is. But you could also end up sleeping on his defensive ability.

He might be worth the risk though. If he pans out then we have ourselves an absolute stud. If he doesn't pan out as a PG or defender he is still a guy that can score his ass off.

New York... come on now... just look at him and look at Holiday, look at Evans, imagine the kind of player he'd have to guard on a nightly basis on a team that will still have no interior defense.

Let's get real. He's not going to be a strength on defense.

If we don't get a two way player here then we're missing the mark.

That would be Holiday, Evans, Derozan and that's pretty much it. Flynn can press the ball if you want to include him.

I don't want to hear Teague tell me how great a PG he is, and how he can do anything he's asked to do. Why didn't your team win more games then? Flynn did more with less talent and did it against big time teams.

Taking Curry would be an absolute joke in my opinion. This is not like Nash's best teams who had plus defenders at the other positions. (Marion, Joe Johnson, Q, Bell etc)

I would be satisfied and happy with a Curry pick--especially after seeing that he did test well in the size strength and athletic depts. I think it's a smart pick--do I view other positions and players with more upside? Yes but at the end of the day Mike D wants a PG and you have to give him the groceries that he wants all things being even.

Now do I think Curry will be standing at 8---common sense says no. It only takes on team who either has or acquires pick 2-7 who likes him. The odds right now have gone quite negative.

The more I hear about the kid, the less likely I think it is that we get him.

Its a blessing in disguise. Believe me. That kid would be game planned against every night just like Lee was and Crawford was and Nate was. The Knicks don't need that.

Curry is the best prospect behind Griffin. You guys need to get in the Know on this one. He is going to be a superstar. There is huge chance he doesn't drop to 8. People don't understand how good this kid is on the defensive side. For those to claim that he isn't a defensive player he had a game wher he almost had a triple double with points, assists and steals. If anyone has seen him play and says that he doesn't play defense then you guys don't know what you are talking about.

Stephen Curry is going to be a superstar in the NBA. The Knicks have to land Rubio or Curry. the way I see this draft I only see three superstars in this draft Griffin, Rubio and Curry.
The rest I'm not so sure they are superstar material.

I still disagree with that sentiment.. I think he's going to be a good player.

How can you guys sit here and bash Curry like this? Cuz of defense??? The kid is no Gary Payton, but he's not as bad as Chris Duhon.

Question....what about the heart and balls on this kid??? The jumpshot??? The poise??? The Killer instinct??? The leadership qualities??? The maturity???

The dude is stronger than we all thought, and his jump ablity is better than we thought.....he's not soft or afraid of competition....he must be a Knick already with the hate already thrown at him.

I would not be mad if he became a Knick....I'd take Flynn as well....I'm not sold on Jrue Holiday or the kid from Memphis. Regardless....I wouldn't be mad if the Knicks got any of them. I just hope the Knicks pick the best player out the group!!!

I've been working from home since February and that gave me a chance to watch an awful lot of college basketball. I've seen plenty of UCLA, plenty of USC, plenty of Arizona, Arizona State, Oklahoma, Davidson, Gonzaga, Syracuse, UConn, St Mary's... all of them. I also watched the both days of the NBA Combine.

The standout players are Holiday, Evans, and Derozan as far as the Knicks draft is concerned. They have size, speed, range, and can impact the game on both sides.

I watched Holiday run drills at the Combine with all the other PG's. The dude looks like he crapped out the other PG's on the floor. I mean, he is huge, just huge. I don't need to look at the measurements. Holiday is a giant compared to the other options other than Evans.

I've seen the Knicks get punked again and again. We're a stomping ground for the best wing players in the league. Curry has the same chance to be a knock down shooter as all of the other college knock down shooters that have come out in recent years and only a few of them are having an impact in the league.

If you don't want MSG to be a 41 night a year contest to see who can put up the biggest number, then stay away from Curry.

Just look at the kid. How is he going to stop anybody?

What's his most impressive game from last year? The 12-29 performance against Oklahoma? Was that it or was it the 9-27 game against West Virginia? No? Well it must have been the 10-22 game against Duke.

Forgive me, but I'm not bowled over by Curry.

I want to be bigger than the other team. For once, I want to have the matchup advantage most nights. When was the last time the Knicks could say that?

Don't do it Donnie. Don't draft Curry. Just pretend Derozan, Holiday and Evans are the only names available.

It was refreshing to me to hear Walsh say he wants to draft a 2-way player. Curry has shown his love for the Knicks but I haven't gotten the feeling that it has been reciprocated in kind. We shall see.

Translation---I think a few other guys have bigger upsides but the pick of Curry is certainly an acceptable one--especially since he did come it with decent size and graded well physically.
I'm not crying if we pick Curry--he's not a bad pick.

if 1 of the guys who we value as having more upside is available at #8 but we pick Curry anyway, i'd be pretty disappointed personally... i don't think Curry will be a bust but i do think guys like Derozan & Holiday have a good chance of being available when we pick especially if Curry is shooting up the draft boards as is being rumored of late.
