Free agent guard Stephon Marbury displayed his interest in re-signing with the Celtics by keeping his Waltham apartment near the practice facility. He was at the facility, shooting, a day after the team's season ended. Swingman J.R. Giddens also stayed in town and is doing two-a-day workouts in Waltham. Giddens is hoping to impress the Celtics during the summer league after spending most of last season in the Development League . . . Keep an eye on Southern Cal forward Taj Gibson, who was measured at 6-10 with a 7-3 wingspan by three teams in Chicago and showed an ability to hit the mid-range jumper. Other interesting measurements from the predraft camp: Connecticut center Hasheem Thabeet was 7-2 1/2 with shoes with a 7-6 1/4 wingspan and 9-5 standing reach. Oklahoma forward Blake Griffin was 6-10 with shoes, 6-11 1/2 wingspan, and 8-9 standing reach. Memphis combo guard Tyreke Evans was 6-5 1/4 with shoes with a 6-11 1/2 wingspan and 8-8 standing reach. Davidson guard Stephen Curry was 6-2 with shoes. UConn forward Jeff Adrien and Pittsburgh forward DeJuan Blair were both 6-6 1/2 with shoes with a 7-2 wingspan. North Carolina forward Tyler Hansbrough was 6-11 1/2 with shoes with a 8-10 wingspan.

That seems more like standing reach than wing span.

lol... his knuckles would be dragging down by his ankles if he had a 9 foot wingspan.

That article is full of mistakes. Curry is 6'2 without shoes, not with shoes... anyway, the real measurements are listed here:

Hansbrough is about the same size as David Lee. I think he'll end up being a huge steal.

Was just going to post the same thing.

I wouldn't mind getting a pick in the late teens to add him. I seriously think he gives you the same thing that Lee gives you.

i'd rather have Taj Gibson than Hansbrough if we're using a late 1st round pick to take someone... he fills a need.

How you figured. He isn't a finisher around the rim, very slow and unathletic. He is a crafty low post scorer that likes to play with his back to basket unlike Lee who rather play facing the rim. I would say Hansborough is less athletic version of Kevin Love without the defense. He will not be as a good of rebounder as Lee and Love because he has a stiff body.

Me too. Gibson is a legit 6'9 guy. I was a little worry that he would come in a little shorter. His wingspan is 7'4. He is on the lite side so I wouldn't expect him to bang to much but I think he fits in with D'Antoni style of play. He can shoot it from mid range too.

i really like his shotblocking ability & his constant hustle & leadership qualities... he averaged almost 3 bpg last year for the Trojans & he's not a guy who's afraid of contact down low, & he'll throw his body in there to draw a charge if he can also... we could really use a guy like that off the bench.

I'm with you guys. Saw plenty of Gibby the past few seasons to know for sure that he's definitely a guy that Walsh should have on his radar. And with the rumors coming out now that Donnie's looking to purchase a low 1st rounder, I gotta believe he's considering him. Besides being a good athlete who's long as hell that can run, jump and handle the ball well (he doesn't treat the ball like some hot potato out there - he takes good care of the rock and makes good decisions with it), he's got the shot-blocking that we need, he's a productive rebounder and he's also got some decent offensive skills to appease a guy like D'Antoni. Very underrated 2-way player. A much more well-rounded package than similar body-type defenders like Keon Clark, Justin Williams, Larry Sanders, Jarvis Varnado, etc.. One of the few guys who measured out a little taller than expected (pushing 6'10" in shoes - he's right there). His slight frame and age doesn't concern me at all - I think he measured out at 214 lbs. which is fine - this guy will never be 250 lbs. but he could easily add another 10 lbs. of muscle if need be. He's actually pretty toned as is to be honest - the type of guy where a lot of extra weight could actually have a negative effect on him. And I couldn't care less that he's a couple of years older than some other prospects in this draft (this guy's got a good decade in the league at top performance, maybe more). I gotta believe Donnie, having had guys like Antonio Davis & Dale Davis with the Pacers, understands the need for a solid rotation big like this (I'd make a case that he may be even more talented than the Davis boys esp. Dale). Product of Brooklyn NY. Bring this kid home!

I did not think that Hansbrough looked slow in the combine, and his athleticism actually surprised me a bit. Love is more fluid, but hardly athletic, and his defense seemed limited to me- only effective because he has that big lower body for work in the post. People are underrating Hansbrough- I think he is a competitor and a winner, despite his limitations as a player, and he will find a place to contribute on any team and become a valuable rotational player, and maybe even a dependable but unspectacular starter giving you 14PPG and 9RPG.

I would put Gibson a bit higher than Hansbrough on my want list because I think he can play better D. I don't compare him to the Davis boys from the Pacers, but he might be a Rodman type of player- who can play defensively at a number of positions- I remember his block against Harden in a big game- showed nice lateral movement against a smaller player, and his measurements tell me that he could play center, also, in some circumstances.

If we could somehow pick up Minnesota's 18th in this draft, I think we would a chance to pick either of these guys and be very happy whomever we pick.

Gibson at the end of the draft would be a good call. He'd give us some much needed interior defense and shot blocking. If we get him, he'll take Chris Wilcox's place on the roster.

I guess thats where we differ. I've never thought that Hansbrough was unathletic and slow, he has a great motor and is always moving on the floor, much the same way Lee does. No, Hansbrough has never won a college slamdunk title like Lee, but that doesn't mean he's unathletic. I think if we get rid of Lee, getting Hansbrough would be a very good replacement.

If Hansbrough is similar to Kevin Love that's a good thing- Love was 11/9 his rookie year and really came on from January on down the stretch.

I think Hansbrough has worked very hard to get into better physical shape and make himself more athletic- he showed some good explosion and finishing ability throughout his last 2 years.

I think he is extremely underrated in the vein of Carlos Boozer.
