How can anyone honestly say it when they aren't the one making the decision?

I would think that you could say LeBron is going to be pissed that he has no help with him and MAYBE that will make him look for greener pastures, but I don't think anyone can say so definitively.

the key thing is his "satisfaction" with the Cavs situation next year

I hate to break the news, but there will be plenty of contenders with cap space and supporting cast in 2010 if LBJ decides to leave. NY is not the only other choice.

It's amazing how difficult a concept this is for so many people to understand!

People are making this issue way too much of a story. What makes people think this is even a factor that effects LeBrons decision?

People need to stop getting up his ars, TMS is correct.

So many sides.....

He wins he can leave a legacy and go....

He doesn't he can leave in frustration.....

We'll find out in 13 months!

Odds are always long a star leaves so the statistical probability is not good he will leave Cleveland.

Except that LeBron constantly talks about being the top athlete in the world, a billionaire, international, etc.

That does not happen in Cleveland.

LeBron wearing a Knick, Bull, or Laker jersey is far more marketable than him wearing a Cav, Jazz, or Raptor jersey.

If he wants what he claims to want then he will indeed go to a big city. He will force his way to NY, CHI, or LA.

OK, then lets talk about Chicago and LA.
- Chicago will have a future all-star PG coming into his own, and an all-star in Deng.
- LA Clips will have plenty of power up front in Zach, Kaman, and Thornton, + Baron Davis and Eric Gordon in the back court.

That's just going under your assumption, which I don't necessarilly subscribe to.
I think there's nothing preventing him from going to play in:
- Dallas with Dirk and Terry, or
- San Antonio with TD and Parker
for example

The bulls will make a number of nice moves over the summer and I think with Rose/Noah/Gordon/Thomas will be much more enticing than the knicks. Depends if Lebron thinks he can win 6 titles with that team.

But realistically outside of Miami who will have cap space where would Lebron actually want to end up?

LeBron still has another year to get to the finals and win. If he doesn't get it this year he might get it next year and that will make him stay. But lets face it this Magic team will help the Knicks out or any other team that will have cap space. Just got to hope that Magic win and next year is a dismal year for LeBron's cavs team.

i can honestly say that it cannot hurt his chances of leaving.

it depends on how great this collapse turns out to be. if they lose tonight, 4-1, and if the game is a drubbing, then this series will go a long way.

there is next year, of course, so it depends on that as well. but as was pointed out, the rest of the league is not idling and waiting for the cavs to win a championship. they will have to make some big moves this summer to stay afloat.

Have to remember the Magic are going to get back Nelson from injury and Lee and Pietrus are improving. No way they letter Hedo leave, and god help them if Dwight works on his offense this summer.

true, the magic are really up-and-coming in a different way than the last few summers. they seem on the verge of being one of the dominant east teams for the next half-decade at least.

it was funny reading frank isola's article yesterday about how the cavs losing is bad for the knicks chances when a few days before berman wrote the exact opposite.

we've been discussing this ad nauseam here.

none of us can honestly say anything other than...

we have no real clue.

right you can't really say. though i think the chances of losing helping more than winning are 68.3% to 31.7%

the sad pity is there's not a single basketall reason for james to come here. it'd be all about madison avenue. basketball wise, the knicks are beyond irrelevant. with or without lebron they need to start getting really lucky in the draft.
