The kid really has done a great job rounding out his game. Maybe getting his arse kicked by larry was the best thing for him in the long run.

What is amazing is the kids instinct for the ball. His outside shot and handle is average now, and in the NBA thats still saying a lot.

That Steal to seal game one might be the season's most important play. Without it they might be down 0-2 going to denver instead of 1-1. He has been making big plays at big moments.

Guys like this are not easy to find and should be coveted. DLee has this intangable instinct and while he is no "go to guy", he should be retained.

We can only hope he wants to stay here and be resonable about his price.

are you talking about T. Ariza? If so, this guy has serious skillets. i always felt weird about him leaving new york, like one could tell he was going to be semi-special.

He still dribbles looking at the ball, but yes...he is becoming a special player. I wish he was still a Knick.

I really can't recall a player making such a dramatic improvement in their shot in such a short time period.

With the Knicks Ariza had one of the worst looking and slowest releases in the NBA.

Today - his released time seems to be greatly improved and his stroke while not great is now solid.

I still think Wilson Chandler is a far more polished player but Ariza looks really good and he's got that great bounce to his body.

Players from other teams will continue to give him open looks unless the Black Mamba is no longer a Laker.

Ariza is what he is.. he is a active and good defender, and good athlete... He learned to shoot the three, which is good for him... He still has suspect handles, problems passing and when he puts the ball on the floor can't create a shot or make one... I think that will always be a big problem of his, but if he can play within himself and continue doing the things he is doing now, he should be just fine...

This is why I still don't like him. He simply can't dribble...to me he hasn't really improved except for his jumpshot. He can't dribble and he can't finish unless its a dunk. He still loves the game and the competition. He's a good player and that has never been in question...If he could at least dribble and finish like a regular weekend warrior he would be a big time starter....why can't he do the basics of basketball, I don't get it.

here is the big difference between chandler and ariza offensively.... Wilson can put the ball on the floor and go to the basket and convert and most important can pull up and hit the jumper off the dribble... Ariza when he puts the ball on the floor, if he isn't open for a dunk, will not convert the shot...

I agree. Chandler is a better player than Ariza, especially when you consider that Ariza is ending his 4th season and Chandler just ended his second. If Chandler continues to work hard on his game, he will get to a Richard Jefferson/Caron Butler level. It is unlikely Ariza will ever be that good.

He's one of those type of players whose value is inflated because he plays on a great team with a Hall of Fame talent. He is not a priority to defenders at all. A desperate team will ignore the red flags in his game and sign him to a big money contract and will then be in for a rude awakening.

That said, what a horrific trade sending him to Orlando, obviously. Talking about that yesterday with Laker fans.

Ariza is a nice role player. But he isn't near Chandler in terms of skill set. Ariza does the things he does well and asides from a slight improvement in his jumper he basically still does the same things as he did with the Knicks. Plays the passing lanes well.

Ariza with his skills fits in wonderfully with the Lakers...The intangibles he brings and his big play "gamble" on defense compliments Kobe really well...I'm so happy for the kid... He isn't a go to guy but you need not to be successful in the NBA...He is taking advantage of his opportunity...Kudo's to Reezy...Still a big fan of the kid...

The guy was a 2nd round pick and now a starter on a contending team. How many lottery picks are being shopped around until they find their way overseas. Brown is a moron and Isiah is an idiot for listening to him. BTW, Larry didn't have much use for Shannon Brown either.

Everytime I see Ariza it just makes me mad. Still there was no way to know that he would've stuck around under MDA, so I can't go too crazy. Right now he's in a GREAT situation and making the most of it. With every start he gets to rub in to Larry Brown for not having any faith in him.

Reezy has been huge part of the Lakers in the last two games. I think he anticipates well and has quick hands, forces turnovers.

No Nalod isn't kidding you. Nalod has a serious crush on Larry Brown. To him Larry Brown farts potpourri. I checked in the forum earlier this year and he had started a thread about how LB was doing such a great job with the Cats -- 35 wins with a team that is loaded with talent! He starts several threads a year with a similar theme. Brown was right, Brown turned philly around etc.

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Yep. And for the sake of accuracy, Larry Brown didnt just "kick his ass", he ostracized him and eventually influenced him being jettisoned.

I'm still mad at Larry Brown for signing Howard Eisley.
