Suns coach Alvin Gentry told KTAR in Phoenix that the team won't deal Amare Stoudemire solely to save money.

"Obviously you look at the financial situation. The thing that I appreciate about Robin [owner Robert Sarver] is that he's not going to do anything strictly based on finances if it's going to cripple our team and he's already made that clear," Gentry said.

"I don't think he's just looking to dump somebody to be dumping them if it's going to hurt our team."

Again sign and trade David Lee to a contract similiar to what Q-rich, al harrington and Cuttino make....add someone like Chris Duhon....and waaaalaaaa!!!!

Gentry hints that they will shop him but not give him away...they don't want to hurt the team...well they complained that Amare didn't rebound enoug...well let them have David Lee...he will look like Charles Oakley playing with old man Shaq.

Makes a massive amount of sense...Duhon is a "pass first" point guard at least thats his rep (we know better) but he also comes off the books after next season saving Pheonix money...David would bring similiar production at about 2/3's pay.

Knicks in return get a go to guy thats hungry...NYC would be his oyster...no big man in the east can mess with him.

and my friends....on top of this....the Knicks would still have enough chips to get Amare a sidekick. Oh yeah and God forbid Pheonix releases Steve Nash!!!! and he signs for the mid-level for 2 years.

Did I really have to say that? I mean, isn't it pretty obvious? Chicago has pieces to move, Portland has pieces to move, Golden state has pieces to move, etc etc. Pluck any young guy or 2 with a draft pick and an expiring deal from those teams it easily beats an offer of overpaid Lee and Duhon. I know the Warriors wouldn't hesitate to send Brandon Wright and Anthony Randolph packing for Amare. The Blazers would definitely not think too hard about dealing Aldridge for Amare.

a Josh Smith for Amare trade makes a helluva lot more sense for both sides than Amare for DLee

we'll need to give up more than just D Lee & cap filler... the lottery pick at the very least, & it would be worth it... Amare's better than anyone in this draft IMO.

Lee, Duhon and the Lotto for Amare would certainly be worth it, but Im still not sure it would get it done.

i don't see Duhon being of any interest to the Suns when they have Nash, Barbosa & Dragic already... they would need to replace Amare's offense so Harrington would likely have to be involved in the deal, & he can play either F position so he offers them some flexibility... Lee would be a nice rebounder to put next to Shaq next season & would work nicely w/Nash in the P&R... then w/the lottery pick they can either choose to pick an eventual successor to Nash like Curry or Jennings, or take someone like Derozan who they can groom to be their star of the future, or they can opt to shore up their frontcourt depth even more w/someone like Earl Clark.

They could sub Harrington or Q or Hughes or w/e works capwise instead of Duhon. I would think Harrington would appeal to them if Amare was going out.

no way man. yo, checks it-- amare was beefing with mda while the suns were winning 54+ games a year. so now you wanna bring amare in to a team that won 33 games last year? there would be so much more beef.
