Suns coach Alvin Gentry told KTAR in Phoenix that the team won't deal Amare Stoudemire solely to save money.

"Obviously you look at the financial situation. The thing that I appreciate about Robin [owner Robert Sarver] is that he's not going to do anything strictly based on finances if it's going to cripple our team and he's already made that clear," Gentry said.

"I don't think he's just looking to dump somebody to be dumping them if it's going to hurt our team."

Via Sports Radio Interviews

Again sign and trade David Lee to a contract similiar to what Q-rich, al harrington and Cuttino make....add someone like Chris Duhon....and waaaalaaaa!!!!

Gentry hints that they will shop him but not give him away...they don't want to hurt the team...well they complained that Amare didn't rebound enoug...well let them have David Lee...he will look like Charles Oakley playing with old man Shaq.

Makes a massive amount of sense...Duhon is a "pass first" point guard at least thats his rep (we know better) but he also comes off the books after next season saving Pheonix money...David would bring similiar production at about 2/3's pay.

Knicks in return get a go to guy thats hungry...NYC would be his oyster...no big man in the east can mess with him.

and my friends....on top of this....the Knicks would still have enough chips to get Amare a sidekick. Oh yeah and God forbid Pheonix releases Steve Nash!!!! and he signs for the mid-level for 2 years.

{Dream sequence}

How many wins could Rip, Amare, Nash, a 1st round pick, and possibly another move to bring in a 4rd player involving Al Harrington and or Cuttino?

I'm all in favor of getting Amare but I thought he and D'Antoni had some serious issues with each other. On second thought do it.

You really think the Suns can't get anyone better than Lee in a trade for Amare? C'mon man.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Now what am I gonna say here???

It's one thing to say, "Come on man do you reeeeaaalllly think the Suns can't do better than that???? I mean Cooooooomeee oooooon!!!!!" It's another thing to actually add something to the conversation....like who could the Suns get thats better...

Did I really have to say that? I mean, isn't it pretty obvious? Chicago has pieces to move, Portland has pieces to move, Golden state has pieces to move, etc etc. Pluck any young guy or 2 with a draft pick and an expiring deal from those teams it easily beats an offer of overpaid Lee and Duhon. I know the Warriors wouldn't hesitate to send Brandon Wright and Anthony Randolph packing for Amare. The Blazers would definitely not think too hard about dealing Aldridge for Amare.

Well its about Pheonix staying compeditive and actually improving on the team. Brandon Wright is a bum. Anthony Randolph though he looks to be good, he plays the same spot as Outlaw, and that french kid Portland has. Its a good idea but I think dumping Amare and turning him into Lee makes better sense for their club. Aldridge and a filler for Amare? Now that is a little better. Still it has to be a filler big enough to match-up the contracts...Portland doesn't have that type of salary to match-up in a trade...as it stands Pryzbilla is their highest paid player and he makes less than half of Amare's salary...would pheonix take Pryz, Aldridge, and say Bayless for Amare...I'm thinking hell mutha****ing yeah...but the guys play in the same conference. Pheonix might prefer to trade Amare out east.

a Josh Smith for Amare trade makes a helluva lot more sense for both sides than Amare for DLee
the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

we'll need to give up more than just D Lee & cap filler... the lottery pick at the very least, & it would be worth it... Amare's better than anyone in this draft IMO.

I think I've heard that before in rationale to trading two first round picks recently. Can't remember who...

Lee, Duhon and the Lotto for Amare would certainly be worth it, but Im still not sure it would get it done.

guys, ur talking about 1 of the top 3 bigmen in the NBA who's 26 years old & in the prime of his career... u ain't getting him for nothing short of a huge package of assets... yeah he's coming back from an injury, but it's not like it's a knee injury, which he's already bounced back from nicely in years past... D Lee & expirings ain't gonna cut it... Phoenix would be pretty dumb not to get back at least a top lottery pick along w/a player who could fill his position right now... if we offered Lee, Harrington's expiring & our lottery pick it might entice them to make the deal, but they're not gonna do it just to get back Lee signed longterm & Harrington who is a FA after next year... that lottery pick is our only real trade chip right now that other teams will give up a lot for... we lost out on the opportunity to trade Lee for a great asset when Donnie passed up trading him at the deadline this past season... our options are limited w/him now in any trade.

i don't see Duhon being of any interest to the Suns when they have Nash, Barbosa & Dragic already... they would need to replace Amare's offense so Harrington would likely have to be involved in the deal, & he can play either F position so he offers them some flexibility... Lee would be a nice rebounder to put next to Shaq next season & would work nicely w/Nash in the P&R... then w/the lottery pick they can either choose to pick an eventual successor to Nash like Curry or Jennings, or take someone like Derozan who they can groom to be their star of the future, or they can opt to shore up their frontcourt depth even more w/someone like Earl Clark.

no way man. yo, checks it-- amare was beefing with mda while the suns were winning 54+ games a year. so now you wanna bring amare in to a team that won 33 games last year? there would be so much more beef.

They could sub Harrington or Q or Hughes or w/e works capwise instead of Duhon. I would think Harrington would appeal to them if Amare was going out.

dude, you gonna start all your posts with "checks it" cause that'll be instant grounds for a ban. Our intern rolls in fairly soon and he'll be right on that type of functionality.
