So what criteria could be used to define a bust? I am just really curious about some of rthe comments that have been made about our pick last draft. I mean if the kid never gets playing time and a chance is that a bust? What about if the player is injured for a very long time does that count? Or does a bust mean player with very high potential who never got close to realizing that potential? Because if its the last scenario i don't think Gallinari fits that description, as of right now not at all.

Any player the Knicks drafted in the lottery since Ewing and counting. That means you too "Sky" Walker.

yo, ramtour, checks it-- a bust is a player that doesn't live up to the expectations placed on him by his draft position. so it is possible for a player to have a long, serviceable career but still be a bust.

Alrite, that makes sence. So "bust" is in the eye of beholder then, i can live with that. So the weaker the draft the more busts it will produce? Because no matter what ppl will be picked with very high lotto picks. Another question is could some1 be considered a bust because a better player was picked with with lower pick in the same draft? Like could someone be a bust based on how others from that draft are doing?

Its about the expectations - you can be drafted #1 and not be hailed as a savior (although that usually isnt the case) so if you arent that great, maybe you arent a bust. But look at picks like Darko, Oden, etc. They have not lived up to their potential at all. To me it is all about the hype and your ability to live up to it.

ramtour, in that case the lower pick is overachieving. if its a weak draft class and the no. 1 overall isn't a superstar, he's not neccesarily a bust

If the next 15 or so guys taken after your team's pick appear to be better players, fit needs your team has, at least half of them were considered less of a risk with at least the same upside, and then this is true after they start playing in the NBA, that is a bust.

around here, what is considered a bust is a pick, that a poster didn't want.. regardless of how well the player performed...
