Sometimes other people's crp is your gold. He just never fit in at Utah but he has a beautiful stroke and great size from the 2 guard. I thought he wouldve been a great pick for us when we had 24 two years ago and now we can take a great look at him for free. Fits the system perfectly smooth strong player who just did not get his chance out there. Our free flowing system would allow him to get many more open looks from 3 with more driving lanes. I really thought he had a great chance to be H20 part 2 and we should really think about taking a serious look at him this summer.

Agreed. I've been saying the same thing. All for bringing him in this summer.

I remember when Utah "lucked out" and he fell to them in the draft thinking "The rich just got richer".
But it wasn't to be. Did they ever give that kid a chance? Seems like he fell off the map...

I was one of the ones that wanted us to draft Almond a couple of years ago. This season, he averaged more than ten minutes a game for 25 games and didn't do much with the time.

Allan Houston he was not. Looks to be going the way of other severely overhyped players such as Nichols.

Remember Almond shouldve been a senior in college last year. If you compared 2 guards in this draft to Almond coming out of school--think about it. You can look back at many young players who may have come out to early or who had games develop a tad later in terms of age. Almond dominated the NCAA division--was a 45% 3 point shooter on volume he dominated the D league and holds the record for points scored---this is the right system for him---it would give him a chance to flourish. I think he is perfect for a free look this offseason--makes a ton of sense

Good points. And it certainly couldn't hurt to have him on our Summer League Squad.

Totally agree Briggs. Almond still can be a very good player in this league, would love to sign him up.

There's no doubt that Almond can shoot--but he scored his points playing for Rice. Okay? Does it all add up now? NO THANKS

Where did this kid go wrong? I mean, what is the word on him? I noticed he never did much in the box scores. I am all to eager (like a lot of fans here) to try players out with all the opening roster spots we have. You make some good points and I had all but forgotten about the numbers he put up in school. I mean the 3 point line he shot from then is legit, the kid can shoot. (Can he get his shot off ok at the NBA level? - Almond almost makes me think of Stephen Curry. I know they are different players and play different positions but they both really excelled at shooting, at "off division" schools...

Did he lost his confidence or ? Also, I've heard nothing about his personality. The big question is can he handle the big city lights or perhaps would he rather thrive under them? We all know playing in NY is more than just about "talent". We need to search out players fit for this city (and system).

The guy scored 53 points in a D League game-

Forget all that--lets remember this is a guy who is 6-6 225 2G with a beautiful stroke who is also a solid rebounder. Why wouldnt I want to take a strong look at him? How many other 6-6 225 23 year old FA are out there with his stroke? We do play a style that caters to his style of play. Utah is much more of a post-orientated halfcourt type team and their coach plays a specific style. He was drafted to the wrong team.

Lets put him on our SL team with the intention of bringing him to camp--I mean we GAVE 1mm to Roberson last year who is 6-0 tall --again this is a 6-6 225 pd SG. Personally I thought this guy had a version of H2O written all over him.

You're wrong. He is a FA and has nothing to do with the Jazz anymore. They did not pick up his third year option. He's a steal for us--it's an easy move if you are in Knicks management--like a free 1st round draft pick. He needs opportunity with a system like this

I would give him a chance if we can get him for nothing, but the guy looks like he's running in mud. He's not a great athlete. But he can really, really shot the basketball.

Allan was a really nice athlete coming out of college. Good hops, decent movement. Watch some more tape of Almond coming off screens...he's slow as molasses. But he does have a great stroke and alright size. But if he was really a good athlete he would've been a top 15 pick and the Jazz would've picked up his rookie contract, b/c he has that kind of shooting ability.
