The Portland Trailblazers are ahead of schedule and though they will make some moves this summer, the core is expected to remain together.

“Not that much, really,” said Brandon Roy after their Game 6 elimination when asked what the Blazers need. “Maybe a banger, a power forward, a rebounder in back of LaMarcus (Aldridge). Something like that.

“I’m going to take the time to think about it the next few weeks, but we have really good players now. We’re going to be a much better team next year.”

Portland will have approximately $8 million in cap room and could make a deal involving Travis Outlaw or Sergio Rodriguez.

sounds right up David Lee's Ally... reunited With best bud Channing Frye lol... I hope not

I still don't understand why Portland would want Lee. They have Oden, who granted is a bust, and Aldridge- really, they're going to pay $8mm for a back up who will get 20 theoretical mins a game

Just my opinion, but I don't really care if we keep Lee or not.

they're not gonna sign D Lee to be a backup... they'll probably look more at guys like Wilcox or a trade for someone like Reggie Evans than they would D Lee.

I don't think I could disagree more. D. Lee is exactly who I expect them to sign as a backup. They have a good young core and after this year, they will not be under the cap for a long time. A rotation with Oden, Aldridge and Lee would work very well for them. I wouldn't classify Lee as a 'banger' per se, but I think he fits the mold of what they are looking for.

Is Oden a bust already? He is technically a rookie. I'm rooting for the guy. I don't know if he'll ever live up to the amount of hype there was for him as a No. 1, but I hope he has some All-Star seasons in him.

how can u possibly justify paying D Lee an average of 9-10 mil per when your own starting PF was signed to a contract making much less? when Aldridge's contract comes up for renegotiation after next season how much will his agent be asking for then? come on dude, it's not gonna happen.

Agreed.

Brandon Roy & LaMarcus Aldridge both are due for contract renegotiation after next season... IMO it would be moronic for them to tie up $9-10 mil in annual cap to sign D Lee unless u guys think investing ~$40 mil per year into those 3 players is a good way to build a championship contender.

S & T Lee & Chandler for Webster, Outlaw & Portland #1.

PG: Rubio (dream)/Duhon
SG: Hughes/Webster
SF: Outlaw/Gallo (who will swing between 3 & 4)
PF: Harrington/Gallo
C: Curry/BJ Mullens (with Portland's pick)

memphis picking up dmiles helped the knicks big time.

if portland offers lee a deal starting at $8 mil for 5 years, the total value of deal would be:

09/10: $8
10/11: $8.8
11/12: $9.7
12/13: $10.6
13/14: $11.7

total: 5 years $48.8 mil

would walsh match it?

Dlee is good for team with established rotation like a final small piece to fill some needs.
He will have trouble to get anything more that 40M for 5 years and I doubt Knicks will give him more.
6,7,8,9,10 him and everybody but people unconditionally hate him for non-bbal reasons will be happy.

portland owner is made of money. he has no problems spending to keep talent. he has roy + aldridge. he has oden. and he can cash in all those spare parts for a big time player. signing lee would be a good move for them.

yeah, i think it's WAY to early to call oden a bust.

big man can take longer to develop than most guards and forwards, other than point guards, centers tend to take longer to develop.

i posted a question about whether portland might want lee last night elsewhere.

i could definitely see them doing it.

we should also look to sign-and-trade with them if that's the case...

perhaps rodriguez + pryzbilla for lee?

not the best deal ever, but does fill two needs.

i'd rather use lee to get a star or get rid of a contract like jeffries though.

Man, hell yeah he's a damn bust. Or at least it doesnt look good for him at all, he's going to have to change a lot to salvage his career. Didnt he have a zero point game against the Rockets? He's awkward as all hell out on the court and plays with zero passion.

I dont think he is physically or emotionally capable to be a player in the league. A lot of red flags with him.

Wait- Roy is a big time player- who besides Lebron or Kobe does Portland trade Roy for that is better than Roy?
