I think this guy would bring a toughness to our team and help to really anchor the front court off the bench.

I know there are a few teams out there that are interested and he would be a great fit with the Spurs, Heat, Thunder, etc, but if the guy gets minutes I think he could be one of the better rebounders in the league and he is only 24 and he is a monster.

If we go guard in the draft there is no reason to pay Nate the 6-7 million that he wants.

Cleveland really doesn't have another all star type player on their roster, so we can't be letting good solid guys to build into a long term foundation go just because we are hopeful that we are getting Lebron.

don't you have to wait two years between using MLE's?
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

now that's a pretty tough record to top.

And sorry but who is this guy? Any scouting reports, pictures, videos of him? Are we talking about C, PF, SF?

I think that's the LLE that you get every other year.

MLE you have every year you are over the cap.

As to Gortat he grabbed every board that Dwight would have last night. I bet Philly thought they had a chance with Dwight suspended. They then go and let Gortat tear down 15 boards.

Playing well during the playoffs.

Isn't that exactly how we ended up with Jared Jeffries and Jerome James?

There is a difference there. This kid isn't playing because he is behind Dwight Howard

James had a history of underachieving and only playing for a contract. Jefferies held Lebron to 30 a game and was praised for his defense. Neither of those guys had very much upside. This kid is big, tough, rebounds and can do the dirty work. Duhon was a good signing and brought something to the table.

didn't we learn our lesson with Lampe- don't take Polish players!

Actually- I think he could be a good signing, and I've liked his play, even in limited minutes.

I would not offer him any kind of Max MLE money- perhaps $5mm for 1 year-

Briggs wanted Big Baby - but Gortat would probably fit in the Euro-style MDA is looking to build better & assuming you can sign him for less money, a better investment.

Until we start winning, unless we're getting LeBron or similar super stars, we should limit what we spend on a contract because why spend money to lose- we can do that with NBDLers just as easily.

04-16-2009 12:08 PM Show Profile Reply with Quote like Lamar Sean marion nash how about splitting it up over 1/2 for players like
C. J Watson and Marcin Gortat? Both are young unrestricted and kind of under rated role players but have very efficient games that should thrive in a faster tempo scenario

If you look at what each one brings--Gortat has the intangibles of a 7 footer size ability to block some shots excellent finisher/rebounder only 24 years old

CJ Watson really reminds me of Mo Williams. Excellent shooter passer rebounder DEFENDER from the 1 guard
who can be our new 6th man and has the skill and ability to step in and start.

Both guys young--both guys can move CJ Watson shot over 40% from 3 points range and 46% from the field

Both of these players haev a great chance to be bLOWN up in faster pace games. It might be a better route long term than an older player--although like I mentioned there are exceptions to good to pass on.

If you are looking split MLE

CJ Watson? The GS Warrior? The guy that Warrior fans have dubbed CJ Disaster? No thanks..... We're better off looking for a "real" starting PG and demoting Duhon to the bench instead of thinking that Duhon/Watson would be anything more than mediocre.

Dude--CJ Watson is a Mo Williams type player. He is worth every bit of 2.5mm. You see I was on Gortat three weeks ago--I don't care what other fans say--it's like hearing Knicks fans say David lee or Nate sck. CJ Watson is a STEAL at 2.5mm over 3--believe me.

I'll give you Gortat but I will say that Gortat on this current roster does not give us more wins. It just does not. On a great team like Orlando he is very valuable.

As to Watson, BRIGGS, Warrior fans on roughly a 75/25 split, HATE the guy. They can't STAND him.

So that being the case I just do not see what value there would be in bringing Watson to NY. To do what? Be a bad player on a bad team like he is at the present time? There are a million CJ Watson's out there. I'd rather draft one with our 2nd round pick and see what happens.

So you base your opinions on what other people say? Most fans from every team seem to hate most of their own players--isnt that true

Did you atleast notice him against the Knicks? Thats key because he's playing our style of basketball then. Well if you dont remember he played pretty darn well. He's quick and athletic with a good handle and shot and plays good D. Do I want to spend 38mm on Nate to be my 6th 7th man--or can I get a guy like CJ Watson who will shoot a better % play better team ball with better D for 30mm less?
