I think this is one deal they have to make because they really need help at SG and SF. With H20 and KVH hurting Mo Pete is needed.

There is true to the rumor. The reason why it's pending is Knicks have to take 2 people in return from Toronto in order to get Mo. That's the only way works under the cap. As you see the Knicks situation, they already have 15 guaranteed contracts which is the limit in the NBA. The Knicks are looking for a third team to get involve.

This is what I heard: The New York Daily News reports the Toronto Raptors are holding up a deal that would send Morris Peterson and another player to the Knicks for Othella Harrington. The personnel meets the needs of both teams, but the Raptors are reluctant to make the deal because Harrington has another year left on his contract.

The Raptors are buggin about 1 year left on a relatively decent contract. If that's how stingy these GMs are, its gonna be almost impossible to ever rid the knicks of shannon anderson and eisley.

If we get Mo pete for harrington or dolemite that deal would seal this team. He's a shooting guard who at least knows how to dribble and bring the ball up and knock down 3 ball. Lord knows this is what we lack, guys with a handle.

Nobody wants Harrington; Layden has been shopping him for an SG or swingman for weeks. Portland and Denver (D.A. and Rodney White, respective trade targets) both want Doleac, but Layden was reluctant to trade his only cost-effective player (a guy who doesn't get paid a lot but gets good numbers per minutes played) while McD was still out.

With McD looking like he could be half decent, and with Mutumbo playing well, Layden may be willing to trade Doleac. Toronto wants a C. Doleac is a C (not a post-up dunking kind, but a decent backup.) Doleac has been good for us off the bench, but our scoring needs help. If no one will take Othella (shocking as it may sound!) we could run KT as the other C to Mutumbo, get some speed and scoring.

Now that Toronto has dealt their frontcourt for Jalen Rose, Mo Pete is even more expendable and Toronto needs a C.

I dont think Toronto is going to trade MO pete for Doleac. I watched both their games since acquiring Rose and they look like a nice ball club. Mo pete has picked up his play tremendously. While they do need a C, I don't think they are going to change their new found prosperity any time soon. They have 6-10 250 pound Mike Bradley coming back who is better than Doleac. Chris Bosh has averaged 15 points and 9rebounds since being inserted into the SL as C. I dont think the team as constructed wants to give up Mo pete. Maybe Im wrong, but why change a good thing? If they need a C come trade deadline--they good probably get Mark Blount from the C real cheap without changing chemistry.

Well if you think like a gm there would be other things to consider. #1 It has only been a few games and Rose isn't scoring that much so far and we know that will change.#2 If you are thinking like a gm and your team could possibly challenge for eastern title(and end of facing a team from the west) ,you have to have big strong solid center who can take guys like shaq away from the basket with jump shots ala Divac etc... .

How will Mo Pete help the knicks that much? He's not effective on the Raptors who recognized that and traded for a guard in Jalen. He is not that good a player. I'm not sure how he would fit in to the line up.

i hate to break this to you but doleac doesnt really turn me on. yes he has a nice jumpshot and a big body, but is he really an inside player? is he a starter? is he better than mike bradley? he's inconsistent. again if im toronto im going to play with the guys i have right now and if a deal looks nice then maybe i swing something. can i get someone like melvyn ely form the clippers or wilcox once Brand comes back? to me there are better options than doleac . Im not saying that mo pete is a world beater because he isnt. he just as likely to shoot 0-6 as he is 3-5. but his value has jumped in the last two weeks as he has played better. they do have lamond murray and they could be jacking pete's trade value, but in a soft east a VEY soft east, there is no sense of urgency IMHO--to change something that is working right now. mo pete has been worth 10 points as 6th man--am i going to get that production from doleac? i think toronto is likely done until the trade deadline. im just scared that laydumb will start throwing around 1st round picks for back ups.

He would back up Houston, notice how his production has picked up lately since the big trade. Frank could be the backup pt guard instead of backup shooting guard.

The Knicks keep waiting on moves.....
Why should the Knicks wait if they have 3 promising rookies on injured reserve? Houston is 34 and Mo Pete has shown signs in his short career that he could start and carry a team in spurts. Mo Pete in a Knick uniform must happen. It may be too late because Mo has been playing good the last few games.

Doleac is a good player but not un touchable. He won't even play come January when Dyess gets his timing back. KT will be the primary back up.

As far as Ward with his great play as of late is fools gold because it takes away from the fact the Knicks need a point guard who can make plays for his teammates. Frank Williams keep showing signs when he gets time. No one can mistake the vision he has especially when he makes plays like that over the shoulder pass to Mutombo for the dunk the other day. Franks is the only player the Knicks have with the ability to get into the lane. He needs more time...

you guys are stupid...especially Briggs (you actually put MoPete in the same class as Wilcox and Ely?!)

What the Knicks need to do is stop fuking around and activate Lampe (let's be serious, I don't care how tall he is the guy is a 3) and he can be the back up SF and Anderson acan back-up Houston at the 2.

SHANDON ANDERSON IS NOT a SMALL FORWARD!!!!!!

Frank is improving but he is not in Charlie Ward's caliber of play. The Knicks can play Frank besides the PG as a PG/SG with Ward at times or take some minutes from eisley. If the Knicks are going anywhere this year, they need to continue to get the team MVP type play from Ward.
