Posted by Bippity10: You're right 100%. As soon as I saw this Q-Rich thread I clicked on here to post the same thing only you beat me to it Bip. Well said. That's Q in a nutshell. We've discussed this before at different times since we traded for him. Throughout his Knick career, they definitely should've looked to utilize him in the post a hell of a lot more than they did. When you look at his skill-set and where he's at his most effective, the post is clearly where he should've be operating most of the time. Physically though, down low's a lot more demanding and taxing on the body then just being a spot-up 3 point gunner or 1/2 dribble midrange shooter and he's had the bad back for a while. Maybe Q's the one who's told his coaches he can't play down there a majority of the time anymore, who knows? Hard to believe veteran coaches like Larry Brown and now Mike D'Antoni (esp. MDA, an offensive coach) just overlooked Q's potential as a post player. I think injuries took it's toll and sapped a lot of game from him. All in all he wasn't terrible for us, but yeah, time to move on and turn the page. Besides obvious holes at C and at the point that need to be filled, we're gonna need to bring in some more talent to beef up the 2/3 spots. Q's a guy that's gonna need to be replaced in the rotation here. Chandler's ready to go full-time now but they're gonna need more help. Acquiring Sam Young/Terrance Williams with an extra 1st rounder, KC Rivers/Jermaine Taylor with a 2nd rounder, looking at bringing in a Morris Almond on the cheap, maybe even inviting a guy like AD Vassallo to camp if he goes undrafted would all be things I'd be considering right now if I were Donnie. |

It could have something to do with injuries, who knows? In college he was a very good player in the post, in the pros he started being a more diversified offensive player. Then somewhere around the time he started playing for D'Antoni he started envisioning himself as a perimeter player. He's a big bulky guy, with no consistency on his shot and no lateral movement. He shoots 39 percent and struggles to drive by his man. The reality, is that he is a post player, and a pretty good one. I would keep him there.
Earl: I don't think we need him either and will not miss him when he's gone. Just feel that he as a player, and his future coaches need to adjust to the realities of his game. I just hope that people will like me

Posted by franco12: What?! Q has been here for 3-4 years. If you knock MDA for not adjusting his system for Q ( a bit player at this point) you would have to knock LB and Isiah as well. They didn't do that for him either. This just in: Q is a shell of his former self and perhaps cant maintain a consistent diet of low post banging do to injuries. Not to mention, he has no more lift. |

"May no forward slide a Knicks jersey over his head who is under 6'8..."
bippity - does the expression "the game has passed him by..." resonate in this case? This is not even debatable. Of course, unless you want to match Q Rich up against Josh Smith, Dirk or Paul Pierce. sheesh once a knick always a knick

Posted by misterearl: I do think that Q is borderline toast. I'm not debating with you. But I do think if he is to save his game and be a contributor it will be in the post. I saw enough over the course of 3 seasons to think he could perform well down there. He would be guarded by smaller players and is a very tough guard down there. I just hope that people will like me

Quentin Richardson is arguably the worst player on this roster. Only Curry is probably worse. Jeffries plays some defense. Q doesn't and is terrible offensively. And he's a "captain" or de-facto captain? LOL @ that.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Posted by GKFv2: I'm okay with him being a captain. Why? Because based on our contributions it opens the door for me to be captain of the Knicks next year. I just hope that people will like me

Quentin is the captain? I thought the Knicks either didn't have one, or Jamal was the captain.

Its as much about Q as it as about the offense. Quentin prefers to sit out at there and chuck 3's.

Owerweight, broken-back, un-insured, all-in-the-past, and not-to-much-to-show expiring number.

I would like to see Q handle Webber. The guy never made a big play in his life and relied on everyone put himself to hit a big shot, held Sacto hostage and was a child on more than one occasion.
No reason for him to get in the middle of a situation he knows nothing about. Especially when he was offered 35 minutes after the trades and declined. I highly doubt that was made up you lose credibility as an analyst if you defend a guy that has been moved that many time throughout his career and destroyed every stop he went too.... But seriously why is Q even being discussed. Another horrible trade by Isiah. |

before Q ever got here his post up ability for a G was 1 of the main reasons why he was a player i was interested in... he's gone away from that part of his game so much it's puzzling... it's like he's gotten lazy & fell in love w/his 3 point shot... the post up game is where he can utilize his strength & size advantage against other G's... at this point tho we have Wilson Chandler who can do the same things Q could do in his younger days offensively that we need to give more of a role in this offense to, but in a reserve role i agree, we should be looking to exploit the mismatches as much as possible whenever Q is on the floor while being guarded by smaller defenders.
