Got to love a PG who doesn't pass, but then again, who to pass to!?

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Sweetney did look like he was in awe. I liked the shot and moves to the basket my FWill, but he needs to attack on the break. He is learning the wrong things from Ward and Eisley which is to walk to ball up.

guys - sweetney was an awful pick - the guy has no hops and no size. he is going to have the most blocked shot in the NBA, period. how often does a lottery pick get messed up?

Sweetney has to get some playtime to loosen up. He had that "deer in headlights" look on his face.

Williams will improve with more playtime too. He came to play, though.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I couldn't agree with you more NY BOCKER, this is why we must get rid of one of these point guards. He leaning to fit it and play just like his elder point guards, when in fact he should be doing his thing to change the flow of the game. Frank had Kobe wondering who is this guy!

playa, all the MORE REASON FWILL should pay and Eisley shouldn't.

Most knowledgable fans would accept NY playig the kids, if they thought the Management had a plan. They have no plans for now and for the future.

If NY does not make the playoffs, is it not better to lose more games then? Get a better pick? What did the #9 pick get us last year? We dont know yet, because he doesn't play. Without time, he will have no confidence and without that he will bad, like he has.

Let the kids play, cut the VETS like Spoon, Eisley and Andeson now!

Actually management does have a plan. Run the team like a corporate workgroup. Creativity and vision are less valued than seniority and conformity. Just try to break out of the box (like Don Nelson did when he coached the team for a half season) and you will be shipped out, unless, of course, no one will take you because your contract is way out of proportion to your ability.

Also, in response to Case's question "how often does a lottery pick get messed up?" the answer is that most picks don't turn out to be bigtime players, so I would say "happens to multiple teams every season". It's about either getting the top pick or getting lucky. Layden has no vision and even less luck, though I do think Lampe can become a threat in a couple seasons. He just needs to have a strong work ethic. Time will tell.

But Dolan and Layden are still under he impression that this team is "good enough" so, believing that, why wouldn't they pick Sweetney?! They figured he is closer to playing 10 minutes a game than any other PF/C available at 9th pick, so why not? They wouldn't need him, anyway, because, in their minds, the Knicks are already a playoff calibur team, and the only reason they have not gotten there was because 1) injuries 2) Sprewell screwing up the morale 3) Chaney not being given enough time.

Layden and Dolan are probably the only people on Earth surprised that this team is 3-8.

Part of me hates to see the Knicks lose, but part of me enjoys each loss as a way to stick it in Layden's and Dolan's faces that they don't know what the hell they're doing, and that this team hasn't been a really good team since the '94-'95 season. It's been downhill ever since Ewing's shot rimmed out. 1999 was a short-season fluke, one that I enjoyed immensely mind you, but a fluke nonetheless.

Each loss is one hopeful step towards the day when Dolan realizes he's a stinking worthless failure at everything he touches and finally gives up and stays the hell away from sports and business for good. Make no mistake, I root for the Knicks to win every game, but with every loss, there is an evil part of me that says "Good! Layden and Dolan are getting what's coming to them! Proof that they are incompetent to run a basketball team!" Unfortunately, in the corporate world, execs rarely admit fault and always BS their way around their mistakes (see AOL Time Warner).

WHEN WILL JUSTICE BE SERVED?! WHEN WILL THE FANS RUN DOLAN OUT OF TOWN ON A RAIL?! WHEN WILL THE ATLANTIC DIVISION RISE AGAIN?!

I agree DefnReb great post, so why do people continually come on here and rant like nobody has ever heard it before? We all can get angry, but for them to rant continious obvious negative comments only makes me want to cheer the knicks to win even more. I breathe orange and blue and would like the team to change, but I know a lot must happen and it probably wouldn't be overnight.

Excuse us, Playa. Not all of us as so prone to flip-flop on our stances like you. If you had a little more integrity regarding standing by your opinions, maybe you'd understand how justified those negative comments are.

Plus, you wanting to cheer more because other fans have a a legit gripe with the way the team is doing things sounds like trying to be confrontational for the hell of it. Why should others' opinions influence yours?

Shaq on Frank Wiliams:

"He just got lucky," Shaquille O'Neal said. "If he plays well in the next game, then I'll take him seriously."

Williams has to play more so he can prove last night was not a isolated incident. I'd like to see him do it.

Shaq always says that type of stuff, he knocks Bibby all the time - but he would be happy to have him as a PG I am sure (if Payton wasn't there). Hopefully it will give Frank something to strive for. He will get better!

That was my biggest fear when he was drafted. And I posted it repeatedly... He doesn't project well to the NBA game at all. To put all your eggs in the Wingspan basket (very little elevation and quickness at 6'8) is poor judgement. While its very early and he may prove me wrong (which I hope) he will be bust at #9...Malik Rose was a similar player, (drafted much later), that had to completely remake his body to become a role player. You don't want that at #9.. you want a impact player with tools to succeed.

I guess 2 questions remain: can Sweetney reshape his body and play over the summer? And, was there anyone else after the #9 spot that the Knicks could have picked?

Martin- good questions... 1> Can he remake his body? ... yes, Malick Rose did with less to work with. Lots of hard work and nutrition. This will make him much quicker side to side and help his defense. He will never be an explosive leaper, but he can become a quicker jumper. 2> At #9 I wanted to trade down ... and take Jarvis Hayes... who would've been gone... or take Pavlovic (high upside), Cabarkapa (poor man's Darko), or Collison.

Sweetney needs to drop down to 240lbs. Right now he looks fat out there. He needs to talk to Elton Brand about how he reshaped his body. Elton dropped weight and became quicker and Sweets needs to do the same. With that will come his jumping ability too. There is no way he can come back at 260 or for that matter 245. He needs to set his goal at 240.

Thats a big difference of 5 pounds, pick five pounds up and you will know the difference. I'll tell you what tie 5 pound ankle weights and try jumping and see if you jump higher with or without.
