Z-Bo bringin' heat! You know what? I agree!

Catching up with Z-Bo

Zach Randolph was back at the Garden for tonight's game against the Knicks. It was his first game here since the Nov. 21 trade sent him to Clipperland with Mardy Collins for Tim Thomas and Cuttino Mobley.

Z-Bo is still doing his thing, leading the Clips with 21.2 points per game and averaging 10.3 boards on the season. But the team is a mess this season, at 17-54.

"We're a better team than we showed, a lot better," Randolph said. "We've had a lot of injuries. If were were all healthy and playing, it would be a lot different. We'd be a good team."

They've had a total of 205 games missed due to injury/illness or suspensions. Randolph missed 25 total, 19 because of a sore left knee, two for a suspension (when he clocked Lou Amundson) and four when his father passed away in early March. The Clippers' record without him? 3-22.

Baron Davis and Marcus Camby each missed 15 games for various injuries and Chris Kaman was out 48 games with a sore left foot.

Randolph laughed when I asked him if he felt the Knicks made a mistake in trading him away.

"Yeah," he said with a big smile beaming. "It was definitely a mistake."

But the decision was an obvious one. The Knicks wanted to dump Randolph's contract off the 2010-11 payroll (and also moved Jamal Crawford that day) to make room for a big play in free agency in 2010. The LeBronathon has lost some steam since then, but Randolph says he thinks it could happen.

"It's gonna be interesting," he said.

If they wind up with LeBron, Zach says he can understand moving him. But Chris Bosh?

"I'm better than Chris Bosh," he said.

Told that line will make headlines, Zach gave a dismissive wave and said, "I'd tell him to his face."

take away the off court incidents and how is Brand THAT superior to Randolph, if at all?

yes, he's wrong... both Bosh & Elton Brand are true 20 & 10 guys & they bring it on the defensive end... Zach is neither.

Agreed. Zach is a loser, stat-padding selfish player who plays no defense at all and barely ever attempts to play within an offense. I'm happy he is no longer on this team.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

well despite being a "true" 20/10 guy, whatever that means, Brand has played on dog teams virtually his whole career. Same for Bosh save a year or two.

what's so difficult to understand here... "True 20 & 10" guy means they average that for their entire careers, not just put those numbers up 3 or 4 times over an 8 year career... please stop referring to Zach as a 20 & 10 guy, he isn't... he's a 17 & 8 PF who plays no defense & doesn't block shots... he makes absolutely no impact on the defensive end of the floor, zero.

C'mon now TMS. Thats not even true fam. Brand hasnt averaged 20/10, every year, during his whole career. I dont even have to look at his stats to know that.

Randolph and Brand have put up remarkably similar numbers and both have had mixed results when it comes to the on the court success of their teams. One is not vastly superior over the other, thats just fact. Just say you're biased against Zach, but dont try to taint the arguments so it can suit your agenda.

Zach has a better offensive game than Brand and Bosh. However his defensive is not that good. That being said Bosh and Brand aren't making their teams win this year either. As a matter of fact the Clippers wanted Zach to return whereas the Sixers didn't start winning until Brand was truly out of the lineup.

Chris Webber said it best about Brand when talking about Philly success without him. He is a numbers guy. I don't see how he makes his teams better.

I think Z-Bo actually has more playoff experience than Brand. That's sad.

The only time Brand has seen the playoffs is when he played with Cassell. When Cassell was on his game any team he joined would make it the playoffs.

Brand has 12 games (all in one postseason) 26/10

ZBo has 8 games. (2 postseasons) 14/9

As mentioned, Zach plays no defense. Also doesn't play well within the team flow. Both the other guys do both of those. That's why both those guys are better. Offensively and rebounds, yeah he's a beast. Probably better than Bosh and at least as good as Brand.
But also his contract handcuffed the Knicks. He wasn't moved purely because he was "worse" than another player.

bigs can't win games in the nba without a wing player that can score. so when comparing bigs, wins shouldn't be part of the criteria. kg didn't win the past few years in minny and duncan is nowhere without parker & ginobili. dwight has hedo and shard. so forget the wins angle.

zbo has a lot of skill but he is not better than brand and bosh.

It tough to gauge a player who you don't see night in and night out...You tend to see a player's fault when he plays for your team...That said, Zach brought it every night in a Knick uniform...He averaged 20 and 10 the last 7 years...Respect..
