I post something like this every so often....but I have to keep asking.....where the hell are the NYC point guards???? I mean there's nobody....I gotta hit the tourneys this summer...I mean back in the day you didnt have to do that...the streets would be talking about them.....

Like the first cat Ed "Booger" Smith....He was coming up around the time Marbs was coming up...I actually saw Marbs and Booger play when they were teenagers...they both were amazing but as far as running the point? This kid was like Magic Johnson back in the day. He was amazing...the documentary Soul in the Hole was true...I saw him play with Kenny's Kings. Those games were so damn good. Booger was breath taking out there.

I'm gonna post more vids of others.....

Please if you guys are gonna post vids....keep it straight up NYC born and raised players....any footage of up and coming kids coming up please post and give some comentary....

only point guards though!!!!

God Shammgod....he played in washington a little and then overseas....it doesn't matter....do you know how many people around the world use his move and don't know where they got it from.....its called "The Shammgod" for a reason....its known as a european move but this kid originated it. I actually saw him play too before he went to Providence and reciently when And 1 had a game at the state park on 145th and riverside. NYC all-stars vs. And 1...NYC won i believe.

I saw him play too in a summer tourney...no need to even go through it. He's a legend before the NBA.

I get mad when people talk bad about Kenny Anderson....his handle was incredible. I never saw him in the street but he was the first i ever saw out there playing streetball and making it work. You simply could not guard him....his handle was incredible.

Rod Strickland....straight up point guard. He understood change of pace. He knew when to drive to the basket he understood passing lanes....he understood how to take what the defense gave to him without wasting movements. Plus he always made the right decisions on the fast break....why they broke him and Webber up is beyond me.

Kenny smith....the original Jet....he's a damn clown now...a loud mouth...but lets not forget how good this guy was. He wasn't really a big time passer...he was pure explosion in college and with the Kings. When he got to Houston he became a savy vet, shooter.

Big Shout to Kenny Satterfield....I been watching him every summer in the street since like 1997....He's starting to lose his quickness and speed but he's still dropping 30pts on cats daily in the summer.

No vid on youtube worth posting.

I like to vote for an old friend of mine who passed some years ago... james Pookie wilson..

Another friend of mine, Malloy Nesmith Aka "the future"

Dancing Duji

Master Rob

Mike boogie

none were NBA players, but they were some of the best street guards you will find..

I used to hear cats talk about Pookie Wilson...Never saw him play.

As far as "The Future"...my boys were talking about him and I wanted to see him so we went looking for the guy and I was impressed. He was doing some things I didn't see before in a tourney uptown.

James "Speedy" Williams was a legend too...I saw him play alot. He's a little old but he still was incredible. He was actually in "Above the Rim" playign for the rival team...the point guard playing against Duane Martin....He actually just won the "Last Man Standing" one on one tournament at the age of 40!!!

BTW, Duane Martin was a pretty good ball player...I saw him play a few times when I was young...then bam i see the mofo on "White men can't jump"....It says the Knicks actually drafted him but I never knew that and only see it in his Bio's and not on any basketball site.

Duane Martin is #54 obviously...

Speedy Williams is #41 in red...he appears in the middle of the clip....forgot Bernie Mac was in this movie.

city demographics are changing, so maybe there will be less.

i'm not saying african-americans are the only good ball players, (which is a shrinking demographic for nyc) i'm just saying most of the city is made up of foreign born folks (i'm not making that up) so basketball may not be as loved, and therefore less big time nyc players.

st. john's has certainly suffered as a result, because they used to be able to often land at least one of the top nyc players. when there were more mark jackson's, mullin's, sealy's, artests, or even cook's, barkley's or lopez's playing ball they could win or compete.

now, they can't compete recruiting, partially because their local crop is not as good as it used to be.

Let's not get all down on NYC now.

KWalker is going to be the next legendary NYC guard. He makes people look like they're moving in slow motion when he gets in the game for UConn. He'll develop his shot a little over the Summer and be unstoppable next year for the Huskies.

Stephenson will be playing somewhere in college next year. Everybody says he's great.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Stephenson is a shooting guard.

Kemba Walker???? He's no where as good as anybody mentioned in this thread....you can't put legend in the same sentence with this kid. Everyone in this thread have been legends in junior high school!!! Kemba was only talked about when he declared for Uconn.....yawn!!!

Dominic Cheek is another SG going to Nova from St. Anthony's
Dexter Strickland is St. Anthony's PG - he's going to UNC
Dion Waiters is going to Syracuse in a year to take over for Flynn - from Burlington NJ
Durand Scott is a SG from Rice going to Miami
pretty slim pickin's though...

Interesting note: there's a Shawn Kemp "athletic big man" going to Alabama next year. Is that one of his 32 offspring?
