Here's a mock draft I put together... now, Ty Lawson, Meeks, they're going to have a really tough time in my opinion getting into the first round.

That's a good draft.

Not trying to put another draft post out there, just want to kill the feeling that this is going to be a bad draft.

We should buy as many picks as we can to rebuild. These guys are going to want to get into the draft before any new CBA is signed. That's going to make it a packed list of athletes to pick from.

Everbody's going to pack into this draft because of the economy and its effect on the CBA.

If you're Aldrich right now, why do you wait to come out if you can get the salary slot now instead of taking a chance on 2010.

The risk is that the salary slots are lower in 2010, and that there's a work stoppage so you don't make anything for a couple of years.

The draft will be packed and if we can buy some picks or work trades with Lee and Nate, then we should be able to restock.

Would only take a couple of million dollars to come out of the draft with something like Warren, Jordan, Meeks and Christmas would it?

MikeD could rebuild the team in his mold with the players that will be available.

i agree JW44, i think it's pretty deep... there's a number of guys i'd love to be able to draft w/our pick this year... i really hope Donnie makes some moves to gain more picks.

There's not really a Durant/LeBron type player, but there's a lot of guys who could be Deron Williams, Westbrook, Tyrus Thomas, Wilson Chandler types who could have that kind of potential.

Great points, in particular about the economy, I think we are going to end up with 2 first rounders this year. Teams will be selling and it seems like with our money it will just be helping the league. We really should try cause there are so many guards available. Even in a bad draft there is this thing called "team chemistry" and you really can't quantify who might be the best player on this type of team (by just looking at their college play - Chandler comes to mind as he slipped cause he was playing in a system that didn't really show his ability).

Donnie Walsh refused to pay $2M for a 2nd rd pick that he wanted to use on Mario Chalmers. Why would he now pay for a first rd pick that comes with a 3 year guaranteed contract?

The only players who I can see staying in, are guys like Kemba Walker who maybe by the time the economy settles down and the CBA is settled and maybe he's among the best players in college, and if he comes out this year he's a 2nd rounder.

I'd say this draft is deep on rotation player and incredibly weak on franchise-type players.

I hear you on that, but for the Knicks, who aren't drafting in the top three anyway, and are going to have a completely gutted roster soon that is waiting to add a Max player.

If we can pull four players from the top 40 of this draft and develop them next year...

One, it gets you in a good position to add a Max player and actually have a complete team.
Two, it gives you lots of assets to at least give you a shot at getting Curry or Jeffries out of here if that's your intent.

I'm OK that we've started to sit Nate and Al down the stretch of games and clearly start to tank.
I'm excited about this draft. I think it will be big for us.

this draft is terrible. It reminds me of when guys like Stro Swift and Fizer were high lottery picks. If your not getting Blake Griffin or Harden then dont bother because it sucks. Thabeet is Shawn Bradley from Africa

I'm excited too, because I think the one position this draft has a lot of players to offer is PG. There aren't a significant amount of quality guys with upside at the other positions. The Knicks just so happen to need a point, and I think they'll be able to draft a future starter. I'd be happy with Jennings/Teague/Maynor/Curry/Calathes/Warren/Lawson... so I'd say it's safe to say a quality point will be available where the Knicks select, which doesn't necessarily hol.d true with other positions

Maybe Walsh was looking ahead a draft? When he picked Gallo instead of Bayless.

Holy cow, that would be amazing if our GM was thinking two steps ahead.

Nah... couldn't be.

if the Knicks dont win this lottery and move up to 1-3 I am looking to trade the pick. If they cant use Lee or Nate in a sign and trade scenario to move to 1-2 then I would look to get something of value. This is like the Fizer, Stro, KMart, draft.. it really sucks. If I'm not taking Harden or Griffin I taking a guy I hope makes the roster. There will be some decent players but who knows where.

LOL, good one. I'm not sure cause I have some trust in what Briggs says (I haven't seen but clips of him).

But, regarding the draft at large. I think for a team like the Knicks, we have a better chance of finding a gem than most teams. Let me explain: It is our style of play! We have a style that EVERY PLAYER WOULD LOVE TO PLAY IN. Pretty simple. Now, it would be great to find an offensive juggernaut that also can play D. Any player that would excel in an uptempo system (which is all of those athletes out there) is game. I'm always excited around draft time and since we found a gem last draft (minus the back issue) I'm a bit curious as what will happen next. Isiah is still helping with drafting, right?

You're going to have all the best players from two years condensed into one draft because of the economy and its a terrible draft?

We need a PG desperately and there's a baker's dozen that could go in the first round and its a terrible draft?

What more do you want?

We can't be excited about the rest of the year.

We can't be excited about Lee or Nate .

We can't be excited about next year's season.

Let me at least look forward to one day in the next 18 months of the Knicks.

The draft will be a great one for this team if they want to take advantage of it.

Ahhh, there's always the Knicks City Dancers.

If there was an MVP dance squad... we'd have that locked up.

Shaq can have the Jabbawakees, I'll take the Knicks City Dancers.

This is a good point- but I think one difference might be that we now have open roster spots where we didn't before.
