Wallace would be a good player but he one of many, sub-stars and very expensive.

he makes $10mm a year. He's going to give you 20/8 and block shots and play some defense. Thats expensive? Cats were looking to move him in a money deal earlier this year.

Is there something not to like?

If the organization is focus on 2010 then it would expensive to their plans for a player that isn't what they view as a star caliber player. We killed Isiah for years for not sticking with a plan. Walsh wants to concentrate on 2010. I am not saying this is the right decision but it is his plan.

Demar Derozen is making a late push in the year to jump back into the lottery. There is no doubt about it. He still cant shoot right now--but the kid can score slash and rebound like wallace.

Do you guys know that Gerlad wallace was pretty much a very poor college player who only played on eyar at Alabama but was taken 25th by scaremento because of his freak athelsticm

Yes, we do. That's why he's a good story.

Do you guys also know that Isiah Thomas tried to swing a trade for Gerald after the Bobcats selected him in the expansion draft

Isiah always had an eye for talent

agreed... he'd be on the same level as D Lee & Al Harrington... someone who will so some things to help us win games but won't make much of a difference overall in a playoff race... we need a superstar, not more supplementary guys like G Wallace, etc.

so now u see upside in this kid when u've been ragging on me for wanting to draft this kid all year... typical.

no, he'll give u 16 & 7... pretty much what he's giving the Bobcats right now... he's not a #1 scoring option type player fish... on a team like ours he'd be playing in Wilson Chandler's role pretty much, probably averaging a bit more in points but wouldn't make all that much of an appreciable difference.

With Nate and Al jacking up shots, I don't think Gerald would be a star on this team as others have said.

However, with the right players around him (and the right PG), I certainly think Gerald could put up Marion-like (Marion during his Suns days) numbers in D'Antoni's system.

Maybe if we can get Curry playing at a decent level, we can use him to get Gerald next season. He has 2 less years than Gerald does so I'm sure there would be some interest. Hell, I'd even think about adding Chandler to Curry.

IMHO Wilson Chandler's really not that far off from him right now... per 48 they're pretty much identical except G Wallace averages a bit more in rebounds.

In D'Antoni's system I think they are hoping Gallo becomes the PF of the future. Although that might not be very realistic if he doesn't put on the weight that is necessary.

Very true. D'Antoni likes versatile players though so you could always just split the minutes at SF and PF between Gerald and Gallo and have Lee play Center at times like he is doing now.

Hell Gallo can get some minutes at the 5 if he adds some muscle. He is tall enough to do it, just needs some weight.

That and Gerald is better defensively right now. I'd be happy if Wilson can reach Wallace's level though.

Chandler's actually has a better blocks per 48 average than G Wallace does, but in terms of man on man defense ur right, Wallace is better, for now... i think Wilson has just as much talent & skills as G Wallace does & he's cheap.

why would the cats trade gerald wallace? they're looking good. looks like larry stopped trashing felton and wallace and actually decided to let them play and he's done a solid job in charlotte this year - they look like the frontrunner for the 8th seed. can't believe how much they ripped phoenix off in that trade.
