Demetrius Nichols is expected to sign a 10-day contract with the Knicks on Thursday. Nichols, who was a late cut prior to last season with the Knicks, has spent the past two seasons with the Cavs, Bulls and the D-League. He worked out for the club last week and will take one of the two remaining roster spots.

Finally! Now the ascension to the top of the NBA can begin!

Celts, Lakers, Cavs, look out here we come.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

it's a shame Anthony Roberson couldn't be here to experience the turn around... he was such a valuable member of the roster in his brief time here... i will miss him.

Who? Mr. I won't accept a Euro deal and wait until next year to sign a real contract because I deserve to be in the league right now. Now he is has to resort to 10 day contracts. The best made plans.

I actually think this guy might be able to have an impact.

If any of the hardcore fans remember his Summer League games (I know, it was only the Summer League) he was pretty nasty and the offense Isiah was running at the time was similar to what MikeD is doing now.

Lets don't forget the bad words he had towards the knicks when they cut him!!! He was talking like he was going to hold a grudge and try to make the Knicks pay for not giving him a fair shot...

yeah don't forget that.

Can someone please remind me what my position was on Nichols so I don't contradict myself now.

Much appreciated.

Nichols was screwed by Isiah when he wouldn't agree to go to Europe. He had a great summer league run and was highly touted afterwards by many on this board. When he said he wouldn't go to Europe Isiah became vindictive. Remember, Isiah didn't play D' in the preseason, limited him in practice, and didn't waive him until the final day despite Nichols asking to be released so that he could sign with another team. Nichols rookie year was severly handicapped by Isiah and possibly his career. He is ideal for Mike D's system because he can hit the three. I think it is a good signing.

The guy is basically another Chandler. A little smaller.

Great shooter. Didn't have great handle last time we saw him and barely ever put it on the floor with Syracuse because he could shoot a jumper from anywhere on the floor.

Sounds more like Gallinari...but a hell of a lot cheaper.

John Wallace - close, but let me jump in The Way Back Machine to Las Vegas where I checked Nichols in person.

Unless he has been hitting the protein supplements, Nichols is more along the physique of Shandon Anderson or Lavor Postell. You know, 6'6 - 6'7 types who are generally caught in the phantom zone between off guard and forward. In Summer League Nichols actually played the two with Nate. Chandler and Balkman joined with Randolph Morris at center. They went undefeated.

Chandler at 240 has more muscle, and is just learning when and how to get to the rack, which is a good thing

Nichols is more light in the shorts

Nichols is a player. I am glad we picked him up. We finally have a bench of guys who can actually play (other than fat bastard Curry). Even that Samb kid looks like he will do okay for 5-8 minutes a game.

The Game - I'm witchoo. It is nice to see the deep roster spots gradually being filled with young guys who are willing to invest their sweat into the uniform.

Nichols went to Syracuse. Cool. I get it. He can have each and every one of Richardson's minutes.

Chiekh Samb is a long-term extreme makeover. I look forward to the first shot he pins against the glass and scrapes away for a rebound.

I was pumped after that Summer League. We were essentially running Phoenix's offense and all of those players looked good.

Then the season started and we didn't play anything close to that offense, cut Nichols, and the rest is history...

The bum who thought that he was a good NBA player but could not even stay on a roster of several teams at a low salary. Nichols will be a practice player only. He will only get daylight if a couple of guys get hurt or if we are in a garbage time situation.

The Answer Man Would Highly Recommend A Trip Down The Colorado River After Checking Summer League

Q. NYKBocker - Can we now sign PEJr?

A. No. The Knicks desperately need a practice podnuh for Chiekh Samb

NYC2BGI - "The bum who thought.."

Hold up. No New York Knicks player is a bum. Not even Jerome James when he was here. Practice player or not, his role is not critical. That is obvious. Nichols has just been given something that each and every American is entitled to. The opportunity to show that he can learn.

I don't believe in name-calling on the first day of school... except in the case of Larry Hughes, but he is an 11 year veteran.

I hope Nichols does well

YES! This is like getting an extra 3rd round draft pick!
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Well, at least he starts in the DLeague...

It seems like Walshatoni are going to have to sign every waiver wire reject, most of the DLeague and then have Debusschere disinterred before they sign PEJr. Is this really so difficult to do? Isn't there some Marketing genius that replaced Isaiah's old girlfriend that can explain the upside of this to Doles in small sentences?

Did Pat Sr piss off Dolan, or did one of Walsh's granddaughters work at the Gold Club in Indianapolis and didn't get a big enough tip from the Ewester?

Or is DangTony such an egomaniac that he doesn't want any type of spectre taller than him anywhere near his bench?
