Losing roster had to be purged before you can start talking about building for a championship. This and cap space was an obvious first step. Still not sure what "some people" are complaining about with what he's done so far.

Bip we've been preaching patience and understanding of the process since day 1. We can really see the difference in the roster now and the way we're setting up for 2010. Next year is going to be one of the most interesting seasons in Knick/NBA history! The teams in the league looking to position for 2010's buyers market.

Walsh is so much closer to clearing out the trash on this roster and I'm happy with what he's done so far.

Couldn't agree with you more. Purge! Baby! Add Isiah to the purged/axed list also helped create the opportunity for a new culture and climate.

You can't give him credit for signing and then cutting a crappy player in Roberson.

Also... Gallo does not fit the system...

When Gallo develops (and he will) and puts on some muscle (and he will), he will be able to play the 2, 3, 4 or 5. He definitely fits MDA's system.

Let me start by saying that the Hughes 3 for 1 trade gave us more flexibility on our roster. It allows us to sign a couple of non-guaranteed D-League players for one. Also Hughes rather hefty expiring contract next year could be a nice trade chip. Hughes has good size and athleticism, can play the 1, 2 or 3 and can guard the 2 and 3. He has good hands, can get turnovers and is a good defender on the wing. Whether he's hitting the long range shot or not, you still have to respect his shot which helps spread the floor and open the passing lanes. He also can drive the basket and doesn't look like he shies away from contact. He is a good passer, has good court vision and can handle the ball. If he can improve his shot selection and stay out of trouble he can be a really nice MDA type player. He can get hot and score 30 points, but I'm sure MDA will want to see him become more consistent and will work with him on his shot selection.

He's also a veteran presence, looks to have the drive to win and can hit the big shot or the defensive stop/steal late in games. Unfortunately, it's probably going to be a love/hate relationship with the Garden fans...much like with Harrington when he makes the bonehead play or misses the big shot. Look how Hughes shut down Daniels who was having a career game the other night. This could have been the difference in the game and all anyone can talk about is the shots he missed.
