Eh, I wouldn't go nuts over today's moves.
We needed a 2G and got Hughes, but, he really does stink, just you wait. However quite possibly more important, is it was a 3-1 deal, and opened up some roster spots. Plus we were all tired of Jerome James as well.
Malik for Wilcox, if it's been approved, could prove good for us. Yet, again, he's an underachiever, he's not in great shape, he's been phased out by previous teams, so let's see where this goes as well.
The Jeffries/Nate for KThomas deal was one that's tough to think about. Nate is pretty good but we have to pay Lee and Nate now and might not find another taker for Jeffries. That could be a potential problem down the road. Maybe down the road we say "DAMMIT, should have done that deal." and maybe down the road something else goes down that makes it look like a good pass on a trade.
The one trade he did do good ignoring was taking Miller/Salmons. That...would have sucked. We'd save nothing doing that so I don't see what the point of that one would have been.
Overall a decent trade deadline. Tried to address some needs, took on two questionable players that could potentially help us - but if not - we didn't hurt ourselves either. The key will be whether or not Hughes can play any time soon (out of shape due to sitting) and if he's still willing to be a jackass (just heave shots, ignore offensive sets, go 1-9, 1-8, 3-17 from the field, ETC which he does).
So it's one big wait and see for us. At the very worst it will prove lateral. So I don't have any issue with the deals made today. I agree with the one deal not made (miller/salmons) and I question the other one a little (jeffries/nate)
We were busy.
