From RealGM site:

The Knicks are reportedly offering the Kings Malik Rose's expiring contract in a proposed deal that would send Brad Miller to New York.

A straight Rose-for-Miller deal would not work, so the Knicks would have to include another player(s) in order to get the trade approved.

You cannot really argue with this trade in terms of talent. We lose an old PF doing nothing and gain a serviceable center who can hit an open shot. I, however, would like to see Walsh do more than this.

This will really help the Knicks defend better. But I would do this deal if it means Jared Jefferies gets moved with Malik.

Jefferies fits right in the slot.

No more than Jefferies blowing wide open layups 200 times a year. Getting rid of Jefferies make this deal worth it, if it is jefferies as the other player.

The report said someone else needed to be added to the deal. Walsh already gave away our cannon fodder in Balkman and Collins. I doubt adding Roberson's deal would make the trade work. Thus, we would have to add either JJ1, Jeffries, Chandler, Nate, or Q. I doubt the Kings want JJ1, JJ2, or Q. And, we should shoot Walsh if he gave up Chandler or Nate for Miller. Thus, it would probably need to turn into a larger deal for possibly Salmons.

Malik and JJ2 for Miller would be perfect. This can open up a spot for PEJr and Miller is an expiring next year.

Sensing the ship might be sinking for the season, I can see PEJr. coming to the Knicks to get fanfare. This would be a good move for the Knicks in a business sense.

I am curious as to why the kings would take on jeffries longer deal.. they would be better off keeping miller..

I think the Maloof brothers are attention whores and the roster they have right now can't really fetch anything. They might make a move just for the sake of moving ala Popcorn man.

What do you guys think of Garcia and Hawes? They have cheap contracts. I am not sure if we should be targeting them.

Kings are not trading Hawes. They see him as their center for the future and as you say, he is cheap. Garcia has talent but what do you give up for him. Unless the Kings would take Rose and a second round pick, not sure what else we have that they would want. Chandler and Nate IMO are more valuable than Garcia and everyone else on our team has a bad contract.

I can't tell if walsh is going after Miller thinking we need a center. Or if Walsh is going after Miller thinking he can dump a contract on the Kings. It could also just be the Knicks trying to raise interest in Malik Rose expiring contract by this out in public.

I can see the Kings seriously interested in Nate Robinson possibly even Marbury as they need PG help badly.

Id be willing to offer Nate Robinson. We must be able to get there 2nd rd pick in this yrs draft if we end up doing a deal with them. Id package both Nate & Al Harrington if we can dump Curry or Jeffries in the deal.

The tradechecker on realgm is pretty awesome. If you are just plugging in players from the Knicks Jeffries, Thomas, Nate, Lee, and Jerome all fit as the player to be added. Roberson does not.

I don't think Jerome can be traded because he's injured, but I'm not sure if I'm right with that assertion

I am not sure either. Sacramento might be able to waive his physical but that could impact their chance of getting a medical retirement for him.
