Doug (NY): Knicks going to trade David Lee before the deadline....maybe in a package deal to unload Curry's albatross of a contract?

Chad Ford: Donnie Walsh is trying to find a home for Eddy Curry or Jared Jeffries that frees up some cap space so that he can re-sign Lee. It sounds like that's close to Mission Impossible, though I said the same thing about Zach Randolph this summer. If he can do that, I think Lee stays. If he can't, he'd be smart to get something now instead of losing him in the summer. There is LOTS of interest in Lee both now and in the summer. He's one of the few restricted free agents teams think they can steal away because of the Knicks cap situation.

Not really NEWS, per se, but it does echo some concerns some of us have that we may not be able to afford to keep him unless we get Curry or the Glue Man outta here.

That is why I say we should look to trade Lee, becuase we all know at this moment that Curry and Jefferies can't be moved. I'm think Lee, Curry and Jefferies for Marion and a pick or Cook could work.

If we trade Lee this season, then we can kiss playoffs this or next season goodbye unless we get a quality player in return. We'd also be guarenteeing that our pick that belongs to Utah will be a lottery pick.

Maybe it's for the greater good....I'm just sayin.....

Anyone can be moved. You just have to make the deal worthwhile. Who would you rather have long-term: Lee + a little more cap space OR Chandler plus this year's pick (around 15)? If Lee and cap space is your answer, then you offer Curry + Chandler + the pick for an expiring contract.

I like Lee but I like that 2010 free agent class better. The Knicks need to get compensation for Lee just in case he does walk this year.

You don't trade a 20 year old that can shoot, drive and defend, you just don't. Chandler is too good to let go now.

I want a lot more cap space that is why I let Lee go I wouldn't want to take any chances on missing out potential star free agents.

If you give Lee 8-9 does he become untradeable, seriously?

How is a guy like Lee un-trade-able? A guy like that is ALWAYS in demand.

That's why Lee needs to be used to get rid of the bloated contracts that get in the way of FA signings. You don't want to trade Lee but its in the teams best interest.

How about Lee & Curry to Miami for Marion and future pick.

Nate and Jefferies to Orlando for Fran Vasquez, JJ Reddick and future pick.

You dont trade a guy that get 16-12 a game and is mentioned as a all star. He is by far the best player on the team right now and may average 20 points a game this month

That's what I meant, everyone is acting like if we sign the guy he instantly can't be moved down the road, he is always going to be a player that teams want. So I don't know why we can't sign him and then see what happens

the only negative to signing lee now is that if you don't trade eddy or jeffries, you will be somewhat limiting options in 2010.

it's not an easy decision. If you trade Lee and then all the big name free agents re sign with their teams, where are you?
I just hope that people will like me

I rather have Chandler low salary vs. Lee's soon to be Curry money. Right now, Lee is ok because of what he is currently making. Once he gets paid, I think his flaws will be pick on more.

That's the problem with chasing the dream. If you are serious about wanting Bosh that's is why you make a trade right now for him. Good article about signing superstars vs. trading for them.

What flaws are those, he is ever improving, he will become a better shoter. He couldn't hit a free throw or an outside shot. Now he is money from the line and his outside game is really improving. He has someone that is good at getting him the ball, once we add more talent he will flourish even more.

They are talking about tyson chandler getting 11-12 on the open market. The guy has no offensive game, and isn't a great rebounder. He plays good, not great defense, so lee will have a market. Worst case you trade big for small.

Eddy if he gets into the shape he was in when he was putting up 19 can still be effective for 15-20 minutes a night. Just need him to play this season...

His defense and lack out a steady outside shot. You know when guys start to make big money, people begin to pick on the same flaws he had when he was a reasonable contract guy. I remember Curry was applauded in Chicago because of being a low post guy but always played below post defense and couldn't rebound. The same with Tyson too. There seems to be correlation with all these guys in sports. I remember when Jeter got his big money and criticisms pop up about his bat.

why can't the knicks just sign Lee and Nate and worry about trading Curry and Jeffries next year??? Sometimes I feel like ppl think Curry must be moved this year. Let the guy get his act together, get in shape and then ship him out next year.
