Is this the miracle on 34th street I'm watching? I don't think we are that far off from being really good. I think they should consider this when evaluating the 2010 thing.

I think a ton of credit has to be given to D'Antoni. This roster has some decent parts, but for the most part it is a bunch of spare parts. Mike D'Antoni is a hell of a coach.

It's fun that's for certain.

Credit goes to both Walsh and Mike D.

Mike is a damn good coach - but make no mistake - the removal of Marbury, Curry, Zach, Crawford has had a profound effect on the remaining roster being able to play as a TEAM.

It's fun. Will it lead to the playoffs this year? Hard to say they could still have a big let down for all we know.

I think we have a decent 2009 summer though - and have a good chance at the playoffs next year. That would give Utah an average pick in 2010 - and it would give FAs seeing us as a competitive team with big cap space.

Win/Win IMO.

This has been a team I can root for.

The following dates have been very good to us:

April 2, 2008
May 13, 2008
June 26, 2008
July 9, 2008
November 21, 2008

I suspect more are on the way.

Yeah things have been rolling. If we can get Curry and Jeffries squraed away some how we would be able to keep Duhon/Lee and have a 2010 signing + those 2, Chandler, +/- nate and Gallo. Not too shabby really.

Briggs, stop flip flopping. You ride every little streak, up or down, for all its worth.

We are a very weak team that is overachieving for a very good coach. Its tenuous at best. We need a lot of work yet.

As a lottery fan, meaning I value a high lottery pick more than a short run at the playoffs, I could live with making the playoffs this and next season if we can get rid of Curry and Jeffries. When you think about it, we get rid of them and we get to keep Lee and Nate provided the deals are fair for all parties. Keeping that core, drafting a solid player in the 2009 draft and in the second round of 2010, along with any two-three free agents we can get, will do wonders to this team.

Getting rid of Curry and Jeffries while keeping the young core of Lee, Nate, Chandler and Gallinari along with the picks is more important than getting a high draft pick that's not a sure thing anyway. The disabled exception would've done wonders (again, thanx pukin NBA) but Donnie will have to find other ways.

Get rid of Curry and Jeffries while keeping the youngsters and everything will be fine.

If it does' well, who will actually be surprised? That's been the scrip for the last years. The worst that could happen is we get in the lottery, which is fine with me.

Mission number one right now should be getting rid of Curry and Jeffries. It will hardly happen this season, but Donnie will try anyway.

Exactly.

Yes, let's re-consider the 2010 plan for a shot at mediocrity. Sounds awesome.

Don't get too excited yet ma man. Give them time to prove it. You know how they get when they go on a losing streak and it's very possible we have three guaranteed loses coming up in a row.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Heck, I don't know. I like Walsh and D'. The Marbury situation got off to an awkward start but the right decision was made. I like D's intensity. He's not a defensive stalwart, but some games we've played our best defense since 2003. That's not saying a lot, but still. Walsh stated a plan to be flexible for the 2010 sweepstakes, which I totally support, and dumping Zach and Crawford proved his intent. Unfortunately Eddy is becoming seriously untradable, which is really sad for a guy with his potential only making 10M.

Lee has been our "best" player in my eyes for years now and I'm pleased with his increasing offensive confidence. The other night he got a pass on the low block that he caught and spun under his defender so fast it was unstoppable. Its not like mega powerful, or super athletic, but his instincts are really good, and he plays within himself. He's trying to stretch his range, and he's not a good shooter yet, but nor does he force a lot of shots. A very efficient player. But you can't go all that far with Lee as your best player.

Nate is starting to remind me of Starks. A crazy, sometimes out of control, emotional guy who wins your heart. He needs to up his D to be as valuable as Starks was, and like Johnny, he could be replaced by an Alan Houston caliber player, but I can't hate on the Nate.

Chandler is still iffy. I wonder about his intensity. There's a bit of Tim Thomas to him: incredible physical attributes, bursts of brilliance, but is he hungry enough? Could be a confidence thing, but it looks like hunger.

Duhon has been an incredible surprise, especially as a playmaker. I like him. If we had a shooter it would really open things up. His defense isn't lockdown, but its there, especially when things are slowed down. He's not big or fast enough to contain, but he moves his feet and hands. He tries. Coach D' has been very, very good for him, and vice versa.

Harrington is weird. He's got skills but he's awkward in many ways. His interior moves are so gangly he always looks close to a walk or turnover, but I'd prefer him inside than out. However, he's certainly capable of getting hot out there. He's a bit streaky and seems to play on emotion that sometimes isn't there. For all his athleticism he should be blocking more shots. He's okay, probably a rental.

I like Gallo's skillset. I'd be pretty high on the kid if it weren't for his back. He does vacillate between nice aggression and a deer in the headlights. Can't tell if its because he's young or if the back is tender. I wont hate on the pick because if healthy he deos seem like a prototypical D'Antoi player: Can shoot, pass, put it on the floor, etc. He's a bit of a cross between Dirk and Diaw, and his talent level will fall somewhere between them (a wide range, I know) if he can get and stay healthy.

So I think its a really nice first year fr Walsh and D'. They're both showing the ability to make big changes quickly, and I think for the better. I still see us as a talent poor team, but we're overachieving and setting ourselves up with the possibility to add major talent down the road. I still think its really hard to win big in this league without scoring franchise caliber talent in the draft (yeah, there's Detroit, but even Shaq and LA had Kobe, KG/Ray and Boston had Pierce) so we better get busy there soon. But all in all I've got to give the coach and front office pretty high marks so far.

I think it'll be pretty difficult for anyone to say the culture hasn't changed for the positive in a pretty big way, though I'm sure many will try - and not just the UK mafia. D'Antoni has a whole crew of haters all to himself.

What do you think?

Ah get off the damn fence!!! This is real!!! You know how you can tell... This was a gradual process of development that you could see coming. MDA's plan was slowed by the short roster after the trades and injuries. Still he quickly got things back under control and the team has really gotten the system down.

I told u these kids could play far better with good coaching!!! Zeke couldn't get it done and thank god Walsh didn't listen to the fans and went and got the best available coach for this team. MDA is the truth and he's proving it with a so, so roster.

There are those who believe that something is there, those that believe the team will fall back to Earth, and even those that want the team to fall!! I just wanted improvement, I wanted to have the guys play as hard as possible and improve. I predicted 33 to 37 wins even before the trade.....if they do that or better, It's PROGRESS.

What flip flop. You call it as you see it. Not many opportunities in the last 7 years to be reasonably happy as a fan. The team is to good with too much firepower to tank. Too many guys have the ability to score 20 for us to be bad enough to make it count. We face 3 tough teams but most of them are on long road trips--injured and back to back for them. I think the Knicks can get can get atleast one of them

The team is doing a great job right now. I truly think that if you look at this team, the biggest thing it brings is pace.

It helped the Suns and it is helping the knicks. It's funny sometimes, but you watch these games and it appears this team does a rope a dope on the other. The opposing comes out throw a hay maker usually, but by the end of the game Mike'D usually has the other side playing completely out of there MO.

btw....anybody notice how the team stuck together through zach/craw trades, the Marbury stuff and the 6 available players stuff...now they are basically full strength? The team never really fizzled...good coaching and real chemistry for the first time...

I call it foundation. Mission accomplished for Donnie and D'antoni....

Now we just have to support these cats and reinforce the possitive energy to keep these guys healthy. Knicks could suprise some teams...

See, this *is* the first time I've felt optimistic about this team in a long time, and I predicted this team would suck after Craw and Randolph got traded. They're proving me wrong, WHICH I LOVE!

I don't get how any fan could root against this team for a better pick... they play hard, don't play great defense but at least play it! And David Lee is turning into a beast. I couldn't care less about his flaws at this point, because he is a unique player that any great UFA will want to play with. If the team can sign two UFAs and keep Lee, the team immediately become a championship contender.

The team is playing well, and if they can shed Curry and Jeffries, the future is as bright as it has been in a decade.

This team has a shot at the playoffs... a LEGITIMATE shot! The Knicks have already beaten Boston, New Orleans and Phoenix... isn't this the progress we've been waiting for?

So, you know what, BRIGGS has flip flopped a little bit, but I empathize. Bottomline is he wants to believe this team is headed in the right direction, this season and long term.

And you know what? The Knicks are headed in the right direction in both the short and long term.

Fall back!
