David Lee's bid to make his first All-Star team appears to have fallen short. According to a league source, Lee will not be one of the seven reserves named to the Eastern Conference squad which will be officially announced tonight on TNT.

Lee, who may already be the league's most-improved player, is second in the NBA behind All-Star Dwight Howard in double-doubles.

Sources: Shaq included among All-Star reserves

By Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo! Sports 1 hour, 14 minutes ago

Shaquille O’Neal will make his return to the NBA’s All-Star Game on Feb. 15 in Phoenix, multiple front office sources told Yahoo! Sports on Thursday afternoon.

O’Neal, 36, was one of seven Western reserves chosen by the NBA’s coaches, and will play in the All-Star Game for the hometown Suns. O’Neal had played in 14 consecutive All-Star Games until missing out in 2008.

Yahoo! Sports obtained the rosters, and the West reserves also include the Los Angeles Lakers’ Pau Gasol, New Orleans Hornets’ David West, Dallas Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki, San Antonio Spurs’ Tony Parker, Denver Nuggets’ Chauncey Billups and Portland Trail Blazers’ Brandon Roy.

The East reserves include two Orlando Magic, Jameer Nelson and Rashard Lewis. East coaches also chose the Boston Celtics’ Paul Pierce, Atlanta Hawks’ Joe Johnson, Toronto Raptors’ Chris Bosh, New Jersey Nets’ Devin Harris and Indiana Pacers’ Danny Granger.

The Magic will have three All-Stars in the game, including starting center Dwight Howard, who received the most fan votes of any player. The East-leading Cleveland Cavaliers will have just one, LeBron James. Among the notable misses on the East’s roster: the Cavs’ Mo Williams, and Boston’s Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen.

As for the West, Minnesota’s Al Jefferson was left off the roster. Also, Steve Nash will miss his first All-Star game in five years.

The NBA will officially name the reserves on TNT at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday.

too bad about Dlee, hard to see him getting the nod over pierce, JJ, bosh, harris, and granger though. they're all having superb years.

Yeah, DaiLee Double is having a great season but you can't really argue too much with Bosh getting the spot over him.

It was one of those situations where a good case could be made for him to be in the all-star game and an argument could also be made against him being there.

Lee has the numbers. he was robbed

bosh shouldn't have made it for the same reason Granger shouldn't.

I agree. Chris Bosh is a borderline all-star, just like David Lee.

Take Bosh off the Raptors and they have 5 wins max.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Jameer Nelson is not an all-star. His numbers aren't all star type of numbers and I can be confident that no one on the opposing team is thinking man forget Howard and Lewis how do we slow down Nelson.

Kenny Smith just said that Lee's numbers are due to the system and thats why coaches didnt select him - I agree.

So why did Nash get not only NBA all star bids but two MVPs to top it of. That is the problem with the NBA, no consistency. When people were screaming about Nash just being a product of D'Antoni's offense, the press were saying cool it. It is all Nash but now, with a Knick having great success, it all about the offense. Lee was putting up double doubles before D'Antoni was on the Knick sideline.

At least Lee got a good look and was considered. That says a lot. He'll make it next year. Hell, we might even have two the three guys make it next year.
I'll never trust this' team again.

that argument may hold true for duhon but lee is giving up 3-4 inches and 10-20 lbs every night playing out of pos at the 5 and he is still putting up 17 and 13 with 2 assists and a steal as starting center on 58% shooting

records shouldn't apply. you're discounting strength of schedule...home games, road games...etc. injuries, coaching changes and even more.

the all star selection committee rivals a high school welcome home committee when it comes to deliberations...

with the state of the east today...you can make a strong case for david lee to make the team...

regadless, the nba is really a poor product.

Kenny Smith is an idiot. He tells us that it is D'Antoni's system that inflates Lee's numbers and then says that we should know by how Lee does next season whether or not he truly is an all-star.

That makes no sense because D'Antoni will be the coach next season too (barring any drastic changes) with the same system.

Lee didnt deserve it over any of those guys. He will make the team someday. I really thought Maurice Williams should have made it. I just want the knicks to make the playoffs.

Mo Williams is not an all star. Far from it actually.
