Bright moment - Mister Dynamite, Nate, diving after a loose ball - at least twice

There was a brief stretch in the third quarter where the ball zipped from player to player. The sense was that players knew where to move on the floor without pleading from the sidelines. The offense had rhythm.

Bright moment - Lee smiling at Duhon. Duhon with the double-double.

Defenders actually busted azz to stay between their man and the hoop. The Hawks, a talented young playoff team that extended the Celtics to seven games, were suddenly on their heels and looking for space to breathe.

Bright moment - The Mayor blocking Marvin (who can sky) Williams shot on the glass from behind. That was no foul.

It was not a perfect stretch but there was a style of play emerging that bodes well for the future.

Bright moment - Danilo Gallinari stroking a three with ease.

Ira - you know when Quentin Richardson starts posting and toasting the universe is about to implode.

Jared Jeffries is much too light in the butt and Tim Thomas plays ball like he's in the driveway and

of course Nate can also blow up in your hand, just like a stick of dynamite with a fuse too short, but the young man can certainly create problems. He wasn't straining to complete the alley-oop either - it was like he was wearing a freakin' jet pack.

There is no room for additional serious injury but

In the unlikely event the Knicks sweep (or go 2-1) Gauntlet Week, you better stand back.

I'm just hoping they don't get swept. That would bring us right to 8 games under .500.

Allanfan - the words "culture change" have been used to describe the Walsh/ D'Antoni strategy and tactics.

Just because there are three superior teams on the agenda, whether the Knicks win or lose, doesn't mean the progress has frozen in place.

No doubt, 20-25 looks much better in the won loss column than last season, but the measure is more about how determined and resilient the Knicks are when they face down the NBA powerhouse teams.

Will there be stretches where fans lose thoe popcorn and scream at the top of their lungs, without the silly PA announcer over-emphasizing guys names?

How many times will players give each other high fives and smile like Lee smiled at Duhon?

Can they grin at their own gaffes as Al Harrington did when he got crossed-over, fell over ... and still get back up to have a halfway decent game?

i think one of the big changes in the new era of the knicks, is that good teams may just be a little worried to play us. even if it's not much more than reputation, teams have to respect what d'antoni and these guys can do if we get hot and in a groove on any given night

Masterplan - true

Another thing that has been overlooked amid the run and fun offense is the improved comfort level that players are displaying the halfcourt sets.

It is an aspect that requires time and trust, but at the midway point of the season the ability to play at both an uptempo and deliberate pace will be a huge plus.

Advantage: Chris Duhon

Every body's getting up on their high horses again, soon to come crashing down, drowning in total depression and total blame on who ruined the franchise. My sig says it all right now.

I've taken the GKFv2 approach. I'll believe it when I see it.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Drowning In Total Depression (over basketball?)

4949 - if you are a basketball affecionado (as I know you are) you understand that belief in a better day is not simply found in the won-loss column.

You gotta look at the subtle variances in how the game is played in week to week progressions. You gotta look and see whether guys appear to enjoy their work .

You gotta look even closer to see if trust (someting that requires months if not years to develop) is slowly taking root.

If you can only believe in the obvious or the superficial, what's the point?

where is the fun in that?

The fun is being right about what you say will or could happen and it happens. That's the fun. And I'm not just talking about myself.

Looks like I'll have to put another 'I was wrong - I was right' thread together again, so everyone can put it all out there. I'll do it later, I don't feel like thinking right now, but thanks for the input.
I'll never trust this' team again.

The Polariod ad slogan of "Watch Something Develop" Is Appropriate

JrZyHuStLa - stock? who cares about "stock"?

The idea (or need) to prove oneself to be "right" is amusing. The last time i checked, Donnie Walsh was the only one on the Cablevison payroll in charge of being "right". The fun is in watching the process. There is no award or reward for being "right"

Besides, if you spend all your time and energy panting and ranting for a championship, by the time it comes the nanosecond you are able to enjoy it will be over.

For me, the process of eventual success is automatic. The fun of being right (and not necessarily everyone else being wrong for my sakes) is an added bonus. I say this knowing that no one's likes a bragger. But in the end, I don't care, because I have my fun. And that's what it is for me when we talk sports. I don't mean for it to be personal although some take it personally. Including myself sometimes. But I get what your saying.

And also, if your man Chandler hit's the jack pot off the bench, then I'll be more than happy to be wrong about his lack' of contributions.

Gee misterearl, you've outdone yourself. This thread is even dumber than the first time you posted it. Congrats.
