The Knicks believe they will be able to retain David Lee this offseason.

Lee is expected to seek at least $10 million per season. Based on current projections, only seven teams will have $7 million or more in cap room this summer.

Three of those teams, Miami, Atlanta, and Minnesota, can be scratched off the list immediately.

That leaves Oklahoma City, Memphis, Portland, and Detroit as the most likely suitors for Lee.

A Western Conference executive said that Lee would be “one of the more sought-after guys” this summer, because of his youth, his production and his rapid improvement.

Portland could definitely use him. An Oden/Lee combo up front is pretty scary.

And Dumars will go after him since I think Sheed expires this season and he's old.

The Portland situation was discussed a while back. They don't have $7M in cap space. Cross them off the list.

who are these many that wanna dump Lee for scraps? since when are 1st round picks considered to be scraps? stop the over the top generalizations, please... it does nothing for ur credibility.

you are mis-characterizing even a Sergio trade, cause we would have demanded a first rounder and maybe a salary dump too, just not a 1-for-1.
