i disagree... i think since Jamal left this team's biggest weakness has been the shortage at the SG position... u don't just lose a 20 ppg scorer & not feel the ill effects of it, i don't care who you're talking about... same goes w/Zach's inside game... i was all for both trades so please before Cosmic comes here jumping down my throat again for lamenting their absence, let me make that perfectly clear once again... but u can't say that Jamal's leaving was the reason this team improved this year when the team has yet to get back to over .500 since he left... that's just ridiculous speculation w/no factual basis.
LOLSeriously though if we had Mobley we'd had been in fine shape. You don't really miss 20ppg on 40% shooting. Zach's presence we of course missed. Yet with both players I maintain they stagnated the offense and they prevented other players from stepping up and chipping in. I think that's what is overlooked at times when the trades are discussed. All the weight is put on "missing 40 ppg" yet nobody takes the time to look at how much the other players grew in their absence. The fact that the 40ppg were absorbed readily and easily by other players if anything underscores the selfishness of the games of the two who were traded.
I'm being perfectly honest when I say I prefer to watch Tim Thomas and Al Harrington over Zach and Crawford. I'm being truthful. Are they my favorite players? Of course not and I prefer neither is here beyond 2010.
Even if we strike out in 2010 I feel we did the right thing here. I think our persistence and growth as a team and the results we are now seeing lends credibility to that.
