then what does he need to get to make everyone happy. He has made one bad decision with Lee by not signing him early now his choices are pay him, trade him, or let him walk for nothing what will happen?

signing Lee to a lucrative extension is like staying w/a soft 17 when the dealer's showing an ace... u might win if the dealer busts, but it's a stupid choice to make.

What does Lee get? most of his points are off pick and roll. About 8-10 per game come on pick and roll. He is good at getting rebounds not the greatest on defense. I say stick with 6-8 million per year.

I can see other players thriving in D'Antoni system playing in Lee's spot.

Walsh will call King James and will do what he wishes.

I couldn't disagree more, but it's looking like we're just gonna wait and see what Walsh does. We've both worn our arguements down as much as we can.

look either way u go it carries big risks... if u sign up D Lee u might be passing up a chance to land a bigger fish in 2 years... if u pass up D Lee u run the risk of losing a very good player... my point is if we're gonna take a risk, run the bigger risk & go for the bigger pot of gold... this is not the time to play it safe, not when 2010 is the biggest year of free agency in the past 20 years.

I think re-signing Lee is the smarter risk, though. He could always be used in a sign and trade. Lee at $9 mil will still have good trade value. If Bosh makes it clear he's leaving, I'm sure Toronto would rather get Lee in a sign and trade than get nothing. Maybe we'd have to throw in a 1st round pick or Wilson. At the same time, it lets us keep Lee and be less dependent on Bosh or Stoudemire or some other PF coming to us. We also keep Lee while having another 18 months to try to put together a trade that gets rid of JJ and/or Eddy. (It would obviously have to include major sweetener.) I definitely understand your argument and I wouldn't be upset if Walsh followed your reasoning, but I think it's a better risk to re-sign Lee. However, if Walsh can trade Lee for a very good player who will still be on his rookie contract in 2010, that would be the ideal scenario (as much as I'd hate to lose Lee).

What happens if we come up with squat in 2010, and we lose Lee for nothing?

I think you keep him, at a reasonable, tradeable price, because after 2010, we might still be rebuilding and we might still be able to get a star through the draft or when Chris Paul/Dwight Howard are possibly looking to cash in.

And like Bonn said above- and I've said this before- you could very well use him in a S&T. Lebron just has to be able to threaten the Cavs with leaving outright, and they can broker a deal to NYC. Lee, Nate & Chandler aren't Lebron, but that is better than nothing. And the Cavs without Lebron are a door mat and a candidate for contraction. At least if they got good parts for him, the could keep winning games, obviously not at the same pace.

If we resigned Lee we still would have cap space for one big time free agent just not 2.

If Lee was playing on another team and was putting up 15.7-11.5 we would probably add him to the list of free agents we would want to par a Lebron or Wade or Bosh or Joe Johnson or Amare with.

We would have a lot of cap space again the following yr as well. Plus guys like Kidd & Nash might be willing to take less money to play for D'Antoni.

Unless we get blown away with an offer. There is no need to rush a Lee trade.
