This is a good decision. I think they are right on this. Unless someone blows them out of the water--they cant afford to lose Lee under any circumstance.

Agreed. They can trade Curry and/or Jeffries for a contract for one less year--it just means giving up something valuable in return like a fairly high draft pick (who is still unlikely to be better than Lee).

I'm fine with this decision too. The grass is always greener on the other side, and if the Knicks aren't getting offers that are blowing their socks off, I like keeping D. Lee in future plans. I know most folks think he's probably best off the bench on a championship-level team, but he is a very, very solid starting 4. I think it helps with the idea that in 2010, why would a top-flight FA want to come to a totally gutted team? I'd hope that folks around the league could look at what Lee provides as a teammate and be attracted to that.

On a flame-ready tangent, I was debating with friends on who is the best currently-active white American NBA player, and it was hard to think of anyone that beats him.

If Portland offers Frye, Bayless, and a top-5 protected 1st round pick for Lee and a second rounder, I take that deal and move on. Otherwise, I would keep Lee and trade Curry for essentially anything that does not increase our cap in 2010. Unlike Randolph who actually can play and for whom we should have gotten more, we have to sell low with Curry and just cut our loses. The dude clearly has no intention of staying in shape and unless he gets down to 290, he is pretty much useless.

I think it is propaganda. Anything that paper puts out has to have duel propose IMO.

Yeah its possible. The Knicks could be trying to pump Lee's value a little or at least force teams who may covet Lee to bring more to the table or he's staying put.

What kind of salary do you all think he will get? (In particular, those of you who understand the cap how little can we give him in 2010?) Is there any way we can give him 7 million that year but still have it average out to 10?

I'd like to keep Nate to. We shouldn't lost sight of the fact that Nate is in a slump and not his usual self. There is no coincidence with the timing of his play and muscle pull. I think he will be back. I doubt we get anything of value and he still fits this system, just needs to get out of his funk.

I'll believe it when it comes time to do it. Until then there is nothing to discuss. There's even the QO that we will offer this summer before anything else.

There's no fact to this article at all. Save your time talking about it.

If we sign Bosh, where does Lee play? Is Lee our center in 2010 or an expensive role player who can't hit a jump shot or play defense? Lebron needs someone to set picks which is a nice fit with Lee, but I'd rather see Bosh at the 4 and a shot blocker who can play physical under the basket at the 5

Hey as long as I'm thinking 2010, I'd like to see:

1 - Duhon
2 - D Wade
3 - Lebron
4 - Bosh
5 - Thabeet

and filler role players

basically, I'm saying don't re-sign anybody. Trade Curry, Jeffries, and try an get something for Lee, and Nate or use them and Chandler to trade Curry and Jeffries. I wouldn't sign anybody to a long term deal until the summer of 2010 plays out

Viva La expiring contract!!!!

Rather have cap space than Lee.

you can have both.. DW was right not to dish out $10mm raises to guys on 23 win teams. As of now Lee and Duhon might be the only keepers on this roster.

Only if we trade Curry.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

if that's the decision they should announce it tomorrow. Why wait for a market to develop?

Increase his trade value. They said they'll only take an offer that will blow him away. Donnie seems to be playing this pretty well. Either way, I hope this is true and we resign Lee.

I agree. He's a player we drafted and he plays hard and smart. He's one of the best rebounders in the league and he improves his offense every season. I just wish the guy could learn to play some d.

You must really like Duhon because I don't see him as a keeper at all.

negotiating tactic with other teams. Might be a last ditch effort to drive his value up even further, considering some of the wack ass proposals that have been floating around here.

Chucky Atkins and Denver's first round pick? Frye and Bayless?
