Anywho... the best JVG story is when the Knick team plane came in way too low and the resulting turbulence picked up Sprewell's Mercedes and dropped it upsidedown on top of JVG's Honda Civic.

Anywho... the best JVG story is when the Knick team plane came in way too low and the resulting turbulence picked up Sprewell's Mercedes and dropped it upsidedown on top of JVG's Honda Civic.

In an accident as the New York Knicks arrived home from Miami, a jet blast from their charter plane lifted coach Jeff Van Gundy's car airborne and sent it hurdling over three other vehicles.

Van Gundy's car, a 1995 Honda Civic, was "totally demolished," police said.

Also extensively damaged were Knicks guard Allan Houston's 1997 Mercedes, assistant coach Brendan Malone's 1999 Lincoln and the car belonging to the team's media relations director.

Because, like every clear thinking person, you obviously know that Houston (and at least 75% of his salary) should have been included in a trade for another backup center once Sprewell was signed. Hence, Houston's Benz shouldn't even have been there.

I do it all the time.

And my brain doesn't fart. The gas never gets that high.

What the hell is a coach who is making over a million dollars doing driving a five year old Civic? I'm not that ultra-materialistic, but that just screams goober. Laugh @ the coach of the New York Knicks looking all dumpy with his crome dome, hoppin out of a Civic.

Hey, I am not mad at Van Gundy pushing an economical 5-year-old whip. If it gets him from A to B, what reason would he have to be stuntin'? It's not like he's gotta look like the man when he goes to see a movie in White Plains, or have to get an Escalade because he don't fit in anything else.

Ain't no guaranteed contracts for coaches. You can go from Phil Jackson classy to Don Chaney ashy real quick.

And I never knew what the whole "Jeff Van Gundy's Civic" thing was referring to in the forum description until today! Magnificent.

Its his life, and his money but if he's that selfless he should just give his money away. SMH at driving a car that little little Asian girls get for their sweet sixteen party. That just looks silly.

Coaches contracts are guaranteed as far as I know. He doesnt have to drive an Escalade bumpin' Biggy, but if you're going to make players wear suits, then you shouldnt have the coach looking like he is arriving to T-Ball practice.

Aight, so I'm not sure about the contracts, but people see the players in their suits in the pre-game show or on the sidelines. I ain't never seen footage on MSG of the Westchester County Airport.

If I was Van Gundy, I'd rather stack bundles in my kids' college savings than have heated seats.

But this is coming from a dude with a Metrocard, and a passport for an ID. I wish someone woulda gotten me a Civic for my birthday, you could then call this 6'2" black dude Tomoko or Chun-Li the rest of the year then.

I don't know - I'd probably do the same and just get an Altima if I ever come into that kind of money. I can see where JVG is coming from as far as that goes.

Just a hunch, but I think you would change your tune if I handed you a guaranteed contract for nine figures, for mulitple years. There's fiscal responsibility and then there is "C'mon now, dog be real" . We're all different tho.

There's stories about how JVG went to McD's to celebrate when he signed that contract. Some folks just live simply, no matter what's in the bank or the portfolio.
Frankly, I admire the little dwarf for that.

We have a two for 3.50 big mac special going on over here in Diego. I cant mess with those things. Everytime I get that deal, they end up giving me a headache and a funny feeling. I dont know if they reduce the quality of the meat when they go on sale --- if thats possible.
