I keep seeing posters saying they are upset with this or that player, the coach, the GM, our draft pick, etc. But I wonder: Has this season really turned out that much worse than you expected? Which of the following best describes your thinking?
I'm disappointed in the way things are going this season
It's just another horrible Knick season, which I'm used to
We are rebuilding. 2010 baby!
Who cares about the Knicks? I'm a Raptors fan

It seems to me we knew what kind of coach D'Antoni was. We knew Duhon was basically a backup point guard. We knew most of the players were leftovers from Isiah's regime. Even the trade involving Zach and Crawford was designed to enhance a future position, not to make the team better.

Could we really expect much else this season? Gallo's back has been a disappointment. Otherwise, I'm not surprised at all by this season.

It's just another horrible Knick season, which I'm used to

I have watched a bit, but I think DW is just seeing what he's got so he can continue to purge this roster and collect assets. I think the Knicks have played better at times but I'm not getting attached to anyone on this roster.

The Isiah era killed a lot of passion I had for this team. I could certainly get into it again but I need a reason. So far they have not given me one.

disappointed. I saw a style and level of play earlier in the season that I liked. I haven't seen it nearly as much of late. i'm all for the rebuild but I want to see more disciplined and effective play out of what we have now.

In terms of winning games, it sure seems like they were doing better with Crawford and Zach, no? The trade lessened the prospects for a winning season.

Why would anyone be disappointed ? These are still Isiah's guys. You didn't think a man in a suit standing on the sidelines would drastically change things did you ?

Other- honestly, I don't know what to be.

D'Antoni has breathed life into this lifeless group of rejects. And then there is all this talk about 2010, but I don't see who is going to be on this roster that will make any star want to come here.

Walsh said he wants to rebuild with 2010 on the horizon, but to compete in the meantime.

13 & 20? Why did we need Duhon to go 13 & 20? Some scrub from the NBDL could have managed this. Or, yes, maybe worse. But then I could look forward to a bright future with a real shot at a lotto pick this summer.

Instead, we're likely to end up with a pick in the 10-13 range in a weak draft.

Walsh should say he wants to stay competitive, but he needs to sell & get real assets and push this thing forward. Trade Lee for 2 future first round draft picks. Trade Nate for 1. If you can't find that kind of deal, then you suck as a GM.

While you're at it, trade Duhon while he looks get and see about getting a first rounder back.

Give me a summer league roster & untradeables (curry, JJ1&2, Malik, Q) & 5 future first rounders in the next 3 years, and I will scream my lungs out as the misfits win 5 more games the rest of the year.

It may be painful to watch, but at least I can have hope that there are brighter days in the future. I'm worried this 2010 talk is false optimism, like an economist predicting the end of the current recession.

imho, the person that seems to be slacking on their end is d'antoni. i've seen about 6 games this year at varying points of the season. including half of the last 2 games. seems to me that it's the same plays and sit back and hope the shots go in. no back screens, no featuring other players in other parts of the court, nothing. here's the play, run it till you drop b/c you ain't getting another one.

I find them more watchable than last season.

They are competitive in most games.

They will tire as the season goes on.

Gallo needs minutes. Even if he sucks now, he needs the experience.

We are blowing it up. This is what its like:

Duhon is OK. Good backup.
DLee is a great 6th man. If we can't resign him or he blows our plan, then package him with Curry and don't expect much back.
Nate is special, but a bone head. A freak of nature but again, a good off the bench player.

Harringtona and TT are cap fodder.

Chandler is a keeper.

Gallo is running behind.

I really feel we are tanking and the only one thing that matters is getting Chandler and Gallo minutes, Find out if Nate if worthy of money, Dlee's real value to us or trade, and getting Curry on the court and tradable.

Winning only lowers our draft pick.

We messed up by beating the Celts. But it sells tickets and was fun for home fans.

MDA is doing a hell of a job, and if walsh can shed Curry he is a genious.

I can see where you are coming from but here is another angle: Coach has a few plays that he practices over and over and which have many options within them (something that MDA's system has purported to have). Is MDA coaching to win a game or coaching to see his team build upon what the system should give them and he is running/calling the same plays over and over to see what his player can adjust and learn?

i think mike has his set plays that you have to run. if you can't, then he has no use for you. that's why he's played such a short roster in pheonix. it's why after he signed marcus banks (since he was the gm at the time of the signing), he was basically benched his entire time there.

i think at this point, the players know the system - they're just not talented enough to execute it. there's a difference between nash running the play than duhon. a difference between harrington in the box than amare. so i think d'antoni should adjust to the personnel but it doesn't seem like he's doing it.

i guess i'll put it this way, i don't think d'antoni can do alot with little. he won't get a team to overachieve. but if you give him the right players, he can be successful. but imho, that doesn't really differentiate him with many other coaches.

Makes you wonder why the Knicks got D'Antoni. By the time he gets the players he needs to run his systems, the press & the fans will all be calling for his head.

Seems like they coulda just made Herb Williams the coach.

well i think everybody knows it's about 2010. but i think it will take 2-3 years after 2010 to really put together a contender.

unless he was hired as a recruiting tool for free agent prospects 2 years from now.

the team just traded away their best 2 players and have been decimated by injuries. Before that the team was overachieving.
