In an interview (posted on the Real GM) Marbury is now saying it is another team. He isn't giving any names. He said he would have a problem playing behind Bostons starting point guard. So what I get out of this is if he went to Boston he wanted to be the head hontcho and in time there would be drama in Boston.
I really think that there are teams out there that would take a chance on him but are looking for a free bee and if thats what they are looking for they need to wait till next season.

I don't think Marbury is getting a starting job, no matter where he goes.

If that's true, Marbury is going to end up following the same path as Sprewell, if he's going to have that attitude. Nobody's going to want to sign him even as a backup.

I'll be so happy when he's gone. Just think at this point time itself could take care of it soon enough. About 110 days give or take and the season is over and it's done. Hell, I firmly believe the latest he stays on the roster is the Friday after the trade deadline. That's 50 days away at most.

Besides, I'm eager to see if he writes his memoirs of the Isiah age. I wanna read that dirt he had. Did Isiah get in the truck? Who wouldn't be surprised.

So does Han have cred now since he was one of the first to debunk him going to the Celtics?

I always thought Marbs to Houston made the most sense because they play half court, they need a point guard, Adelman can deal with anyone, and they really need another scorer especially when TMac doesn't play.
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

Did they not just trade Francis to save on the lux tax though? I think that's the deal there. So I doubt they extend to Marbs....unless Francis was just plain DONE which is entirely possible too.

I could see Marbury in LA, I could see him in SA cause the Spurs have taken on questionable guys in the past and kept them in check. Celtics too given that Pruitt and Cassell have been useless and one would be an easy cut to make to bring in Marbles.

Whether we like it or not Marbles has options and I bet he stays in line for at least half a year. It might just be enough for a team to take the risk.

Marbury expressed displeasure the Knicks continue to drag this out. Knicks president Donnie Walsh had said he would resolve the Marbury issue after Jan. 1. Marbury thought he would hear something yesterday, but last night Walsh said he plans to restart buyout talks next week when the Players Association officials return from vacation.

On the Boston report, Walsh said, "If there is an offer out there, maybe there's motivation (for Marbury) to do something."

It would also appear that Marbury went to the Wolves/Warriors game because in the middle of a Warriors game thread a fan posted "marbury just chilling collecting them checks".

We'll be down to ~13.6M owed to FanBury after tomorrow's game. That 1M offer looks better and better as it becomes an even higher percentage off of what's left owed. I'm also with Walsh though: Maybe he'd be motivated to give in a little more. Last stalemate was Walsh 3M, Marbury 1M. Can they agree on 2M lol?

We'll see.

And round and round it goes...

This just in, Marbury wants to play on the Harlem Globetrotters next year. Asked for comment, team representatives have reportedly expressed concerns about the effect it would have on team chemistry. Marbury says that will not be an issue. "In my time as an NBA superstar, I have learned what it takes to be a leader of a team and how to conduct myself with the utmost professionalism and class. Besides, I'm New York born and bred, and just like Frank Sonato once sang, "If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere."

No... you get it wrong. Jerome will go back to Globetrotters. Marbs will play for Trotterglobers

Walsh is in the driver's seat and Marbury thinks he is. Walsh is not going to do anything unless it benefits the Knicks. He knows Marbury potentially is an asset. He knows that there is a time table for Marbury that is approaching. Marbury is not relevant if he is released after players cannot be added to a playoff roster. Marbury is stubborn and has ego problems. He cannot see that by not accepting a buyout that benefits the Knicks he will not get to play this season. In this economy, with his past history, at his age he needs to get out there and prove he can play, be a part of a team, and not be the dysfunctional, cancer that he is portrayed as. He needs to swallow his pride/ adjust his ego twice, first in buyout negotiations, and second by taking a backup role with a playoff contender. I don't think he is capable of doing this so I don't see it happening. In my opinion his best hope of playing this year is if it is not in his hands and he is traded around the deadline.

http://www.prosportsdaily.com/comments/celtics-reportedly-are-interested-in-marbury-188991.html
Marbury, who attended the Timberwolves' game Friday in Minnesota, said in a TV interview: "Reuniting with Kevin [Garnett] is something that I would love. Going to Boston would be great for basketball and for fans to see Kevin and I reunited, like when we were younger ... There is some hope, if I can get out of my contract and they're interested in me. How can you deny the chance?"

i wonder if Celtic fans are as excited about the idea as Steph is? that's a sincere question too... i dunno whether they'd be happy about it or if they'd want no part of this guy even at a minimum salary... they already have the best team in the game & an NBA title under their belt, why mess w/success?

Eh, on rgm celtic board there's a pretty long thread on the Marbury rumor. Seems more are into giving him a chance than those who are against it. Most seem to say whats the harm, if he's a distraction, you get rid of him. To be honest I bet he could keep himself in check just long enough to make it worthwhile for any team to sign him with 50 games to go (or 40, or whatever it is if/when he's released).

Again Dumbobury sticks his foot in his mouth."If Im going to a team Im knocking the starting point guard out and Im starting." What team in their right mind would do this?? I dont care if its Golden State, does anyone realize the impact that has on a team? I just think Stupidbury is doing crack or something!! Donnie let him sit the whole season and he wont play bball for almost 2 yrs!!! PAY him, I would just to screw him so no team would have him until next yr.

If that's true, Marbury is going to end up following the same path as Sprewell, if he's going to have that attitude. Nobody's going to want to sign him even as a backup.

That is exactly where he is headed. Sprewell talked his way out of the league by thinking more highly of himself than he should have. Reality hit him smack in the face and he was too prideful to suck it up and take less money. Marbury is doing the same thing: (1) thinking too highly of himself (to actually think that you would replace the starting pg on a championship team in mid-season), and (2) we all know he is too prideful for his own good. Since Marbury is younger than Sprewell and plays at a position that is harder to fill, he probably will play again in the NBA, but if he keeps up with his "I must start" demand, teams will quickly lose interest. The dude is costing himself millions.
