Two NY teams on at 1 today. Giants v. Vikings and Knicks v. Nuggets. Carmelo is back and it can get ugly anytime we play Denver. We need a win.

The Denver Nuggets must be eager for Carmelo Anthony’s return. His hometown team, though, can’t be nearly as enthusiastic.

Anthony, a native of New York, expects to be back in the lineup Sunday as the Nuggets head to Madison Square Garden looking to hand the Knicks their sixth straight loss.

Denver (19-11) has been without Anthony (sore right elbow) the last three games, winning two. Anthony said he’ll try to play in this contest, the opener of a four-game road trip for the Nuggets.

Anthony is averaging 27.4 points in 10 games against the Knicks (11-17), who can’t be thrilled to face one of the NBA’s top scorers.

New York has lost five in a row, allowing 115.2 points per game. During that span, Knicks opponents are shooting 41.1 percent from 3-point range and 50.7 percent from the field.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

The return of the Balkman.
Carmelo is back and it can get ugly anytime we play Denver.

So he's going to punch-slap someone in the face and backpedal again?

Anyone wishes that Q-brick would stop his little head punching deal after he makes a three or probably punch himself a little harder to knock himself out

Somebody must've told Chandler to be more aggressive looking for his offense. Awesome to see. Not shooting it great today but he's not being bashful.

We have to find a 4 or a 5 that will defend the paint. All these layups and dunks are making me nauseous.

Why dont we find a perimeter player that can guard if we had a guy who could block shots he would average 5 a game and fould out and our defense would still suck. How is it the bigs fault when the wings get in the paint at will?

While you have a point - defense starts at the perimeter - the bigs are supposed to give some help defense and they're not giving ANY.

Any way we can take Raja Bell off of Charlotte's hands?

Jerome James.

Seriously, when games go this way, you put in Jerome for 3-4 minutes, let him smack some people to the ground, change the flow of the game, then sit him back down before he croaks.

...as to this game, we were 49-47 and then the Knicks of the past few games suddenly showed up. They stopped trying at all defensively and went completely 1-1 chuck fest from deep offensively, throw in some absolutely clueless passes that became turnovers... and you got what you see... down 10 in a split second.

That right there is lack of effort. Why? Because they had effort earlier and were fine. It wasn't smooth but it was solid enough play to be in the game. Then they just quit. Mentally soft.

Games like this make you want to say no one player on the team is worth keeping. I like Nate, Lee, Chandler but Lee has been soft, Chandler is chucking from deeper and deeper as the game went on, and Nate has just been sloppy and selfish.

Oh well, this team isn't meant to win anything, it's meant to sit here and wait about 18 months for 2010 when we can start building the team back up. From here on out all it's going to be is further tearing down and sloppy uninspired play.

In it all though, they are professionals, several looking for new contracts, and they play like they don't care? That's inexcuseable no matter the situation.

Sheeeesh, I thought the game was at 5PM. Missed the first half. New starting lineup and a little more effort in the 3rd quarter.

We need a frickin center

We need:

A starting C, PF, SF, SG, PG

In the meantime, as we continue to tear down the roster, over the next 18 months, before we have a chance to start rebuilding the roster, we will get some warm bodies back, maybe curry, maybe gallo, we'll solve the mobley and marbury issues and sign a guard and a big man, and we'll be in a little better shape.

Yet, posts like yours, ring as if you expect this to be a winning team, and we "just need a center and we'll be good".

That's just not happening. It's frustrating, but, it's necessary. This team HAD to be torn down... HAD TO... it was going NOWHERE it didn't already take us! (several fleeting moments with .500 play over the past five years).

And, this is what you get when you tear a roster down!!!!

Role players over extended, lack of depth, height, skill...

Get ready for 18 more months of it!!!

Summer of 2010 is like day 1 for the new franchise. That's when you begin to build the roster back up.

Balkman is a good player. Too bad D'Antoni doesn't like him. He could have helped us.

You missed a half court 1st quarter offense with Lee, Jeffries, Thomas, Chandler, Duhon as the lineup. It wasn't smooth but it was steady, and it was a close game.

Second quarter it was 49-47 nuggz and the Knicks just stopped playing. Completely. No defense. 1-1 chucking offense. Turnovers. Heads hung down. Denver went 15-20 from the field and took a 10 point lead.

Third Quarter, get this, they start PLAYING HARD AGAIN, and they came all the way back and took the lead.

That's really it...
