BOSTON - Danilo Gallinari slowly and quietly has been making steady progress as he recovers from a lingering back injury that has shelved the lottery pick for most of his rookie season. His running and shooting workouts have intensified, but the Knicks will continue to proceed cautiously with the 20-year-old, who suffered a bulging disc during the summer.

"I think he's getting better," Mike D'Antoni said. "But said give it a couple more weeks to make sure."

After Gallinari met with several back specialists last month, the collective assessment was that he needed rest, not surgery. A time frame of six to eight weeks was given, meaning he could return sometime in January.

D'Antoni said Eddy Curry, who hasn't played this season because of a bone bruise in his left leg, is "improving" and is "close" to getting on the court. "I would think within the next two or three weeks, he should be able to," D'Antoni said. "They say a couple weeks start practicing, then playing soon, but that may be wishful thinking."

I'd like to see Curry get on the court, because the sooner he plays, the sooner he gets traded. Gallo will need a little time to get rid of the rust, but after that I think we'll be very glad we drafted him.

I love D'Antoni cause he really says it like it is.

Love this on Curry: "but that may be wishful thinking"

Before he gets traded, I'd like to see what D'Antoni can do with him. For all his warts, Curry does certain things very well. I'd like to see if we can get the 06/07 Curry - 19/7.

Potentially, this wide open system could make Curry a very efficient threat.

The key question will be if Curry can learn to make a simple pass. And I've seen this same roster which sucked last year actually turn around and implement this MDA's system, so I do have some hope.

It's all up to Curry. He has the talent to be a star, but the work ethic to be what he is, a role player who you don't miss when he's gone.

Correction: He HAD the talent to be a star. That is no more. I personally guarantee it.

Do you think his talent level went down? He's still the same player with the same talents. He just has no motivation, so yes, there is a good chance you will never see his talent.

I do think his talent level went down because I dont see him putting up 19 & 6, I don't care what system this is in.

We've all heard the weak Stackhouse to NY trade rumours

Dallas needs a low post scorer.

We have someone who would be a perfect complement to Dampier who does everything Eddy Curry does not.

If you look at their rosters

Eddy Curry for Stackhouse and any number of players Dallas has that have 2 years and make 2-3 mill per could easily work:

Try it out here: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=990~802~3038&teams=6~18~18&te=&cash=

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

I believe Stackhouse tried to play last night and said that he cannot run or jump and that his injury is much worse than he thought when he first stopped playing in November. I don't think the Knicks should trade Curry for him.

A toast to Eddy Curry.

In a country that prides itself on giving people second chances, forgiving mistakes and doing time after committing the crime - - -

I hope he plays well.

He has millions of chances. Fans are going to accept him if he's helping the team win. They will cheer for him as well. Chances for athletes rarely go away(Sorry Marbs). He just needs to take advantage of the opportunity. But if he continues to be overweight and lack effort on the boards and not add to the team, fans will treat him as they treat him now. That's the beauty of sports, "what have you done for me lately"
