The Memphis Grizzlies waived forward Antoine Walker, club General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced today.

The 6-9, 245-pound forward did not appear in a game with the Grizzlies this season after he was acquired from the Minnesota Timberwolves on June 26, 2008 along with the draft rights to guard O.J. Mayo and guards Greg Buckner and Marko Jaric in exchange for the draft rights to forward Kevin Love, swingman Mike Miller, forward Brian Cardinal and center Jason Collins.

“Antoine Walker was a true professional during his time in Memphis,” said Wallace. “We wish him all the best in his effort to find another team where he can receive more playing time.”


The guy is 6'9 with range, the type of player D'Antoni craves. He should thrive in this type of offense but no one knows where his conditioning is right now. Is he worth the gamble?

we don't need any more F's... we need a shotblocking C & another G... plus PEJ already has a promise for a roster spot once the Dinglebury issue is resolved... A Walker is not coming here.

Walker is the type of bum that Isiah covets. No thanks.

We need a young guard with a handle and a shot - even if it's one of our DLeague SL guys like Walker Russel JR - or someone like Chuck Atkins.

When the InternBury situation is resolved that's when we sign EwJr.

Just say no to Walker - he would not improve this team anyway he'd be a detriment.

He's going to, if healthy, end up on a good team with a shot at the title. Boston, Orlando, SA, Lakers, Cavs... one of them, and possibly help them as a bench scrub.

I'm not ****tin on this dude.....Walker is still a good player and worth a pick up. He's a good leader and has had some good moments in his career.

I wanted the Knicks to trade for him earlier, but now the Knicks don't need his talent with guys like Tim Thomas and Wilson Chandler on the team.

He's gonna help a team this season.

I'm with Fishmike, get rid of Roberson and sign 'Toine for the rest of the season. What does it hurt? It would be fun for the fans, and ol' boy would love to ball in Mr. Pringle's wide open system.

Yea, this is WORSE than the Vujacic for Lee thread.

I am sure that Walker would take FULL ADVANTAGE of his freedom to gun. This guy would be bad news on any team, and even worse on ours, where I am sure that he could manage chucking up 40 threes a game.
