Sacto fires Theus.

LINK

I don't get this one at all. Sure, they stunk it up against us but they took the Lakers to the limit and actually beat them before playing us.

He wasn't a very good coach....the way they played on Sat. Night in the first half you got the feeling he'd be fired on the spot.

I agree man, but at the same time, they were 6-18. That's horrible! And they came out like bums against us.

Zero motivation. We murder them for 42 minutes. For 6 minutes in the 3rd Q they played hard and actually cut into our lead big time. That was it.

They're not as bad as they are they just have zero motivation. Their roster isn't great but when you see that 6 minutes of intense play sandwiched between 42 minutes of "we dont give a crap" play then the COACH is certainly in play.

If they played hard 48 minutes and sucked nobody bats an eye. That's just not the case here.

That franchise is a disaster though. The Maloofs closed the purse...and Petrie went from a great GM to a pile of garbage...hence the roster full of garbage.

Never had to happen but it did.

I'm certainly not batting a tear over this though. Who cares about the Queens.

Damn, open season on coaches, GM's and owners going buckwild with all these firings. These guys are some Grinch's tho, firing people right around Christmas time.

Theus isnt that good tho. I agree. He needs to go back to coaching on 'Hang Time'. He was doing well there and he had a great squad of ballers. I dont know what happened, his coaching was on point back then.

You'd think the economy would force teams to keep these bad coaches instead of paying them to do nothing.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Breen jinxed him saying that is the type of game that get coaches fired. When will these horrible owners start to take blame.

I'm wondering just who are these teams gonna get to replace these coaches? Who is out there that really has any credentials? It's not like there are all these great coaches just waiting to run these horrible teams! I'm not seeing enough GM's getting fired!

Nope, Dolan gave him an extension because we were the 8th seed for about 3 hours after Francis (you piece of SHIT! DAMN YOU) hit that ridiculous 3pter to give us the win in Washington.

It was widely known that if that did not happen Dolan (idiot of idiots) was going to actually FIRE ISIAH.

So, go kick Francis in the Balls. Cause he misses that shot? No Isiah Extension.

So, well, yeah this all reflects back to DOLAN for being a MORON.

The Maloofs? Nobody can understand this - they went from two great owners to two insane idiots out there....and there's no reason behind it. They're still filthy rich. Nothing changed. Just...they CHANGED.

And the Kings fell apart because of them.

Kinda like how Jerry West built an amazing team in Memphis only to have Heisley(?) turn around and say "NO LUX TAX" and that was the end of that.

Idiot owners.........

I dont know if I would get at the Maloof's like that. The problem is Petrie, their GM Is he still their GM? Seems like he's lost a little zing off his fastball. My man was making power moves earlier in the decade, but now not so much. Its just the Kings turn to suck now.

It started with the Maloofs though because after the big run in... what was it... 2002? The Maloofs closed the purse strings up.
The moves Petrie made are almost like the moves West made in Memphis when his purse was shut. It doesn't excuse idiot trades and signings but it shows that the owners decided to limit what the GM could do and that played a part in the idiot trades and signings because his options were limited.

You can't fault them entirely because Petrie clearly made some terrible moves but they had a big enough hand in it by putting an end to free spending.

Prior to the mandate to stop spending Petrie had built a MONSTER team that I still maintain, just like the monster Portland team that followed them a year later (or before?? I forget!), was SCREWED out of their rightful place in the finals by an idiot commissioner that for whatever reason wanted Kobe/Shaq to succeed at all costs.

Now, did Petrie really lose his senses that quickly or were his moves governed by his owners? I say the latter....

Coach was winning. GM, thought he knew better. Clashed with coach, grass became greeener in other places. Bam, team starts to decline. When will teams learn, when you get a good coach, stick with him. Only change when you have completely decided to change course. Rarely does any other way work.
