Quietly playing well in the D-League. I would like to see him picked by the Knicks for the remainder of this season.

hahaha wow... I think that he is ok personally. Don't know how he could be considered as being a cancer? Is he a top level talent no way, but has he proven to be a decent combo guard while playing in the league. YES, most definitely.

I like him in that scenario. Can score, I think he tries to be a lil flashy at times.. but under D'Antoni it might be an intriguing possibility. Especially if we are considering the likes of a Janerro Pargo esq player type.

Honestly, I'd look at my dude Dre Barrett too as a backup pg!

From Smush's wiki:
"Parker is currently the subject of a complaint lodged against him by a valet parker who accused Parker of striking her after a dispute over a $12.00 parking fee."

I'll pass on this head case. I've made some bad decisions in my life, but I am certain that striking a female over 12.00$ is something that I would never do...nor any sane person.

We've had enough of Marbury.

Not sure I believe that entirely. Never even heard of a female valet driver, have you?

Seriously, I'm with Jay here. If they decide they need another guard they could do a lot worse than this guy. He can play.

I mean, yea, he's only accused and whatnot, maybe he didn't hit her, maybe he did. But why is his name in this anyway? A millionaire in an argument over 12 bucks? That's not normal.

And lot's of players can play. Marbury can ball. But their heads aren't right. Smush just has all the warning signs of being that type of player.

That's crazy... I didn't know about that! Gotta admit that It sounds a lil far fetched though. If it is true then we'd probably take em on! How insane is that?

Historically, the NY Knicks brass have never been opposed to taking on reclamation projects. Do I agree w/ that notion????.. not always! Personal struggles aside, I still think he is a decent pick up if you weigh the available options. However, I'll place the disclamer that we should be weary when evaluating a player with these concerns.

Here are some other players w/o the drama in their lives that I'd like here from the D league or overseas.

Andre Barrett pg
Marcus Williams sf/sg/pg (Only thing is he can't shoot-- reminds me of Francisco Garcia)
Derrick Byars sg

Barret, Seton Hall guy, he's a little small, if I recall, but he can put the biscuit in the basket.

Williams, why not? He was hella hyped.

Byars? Idk him.

On that note, you seem to favor small scoring guards. I'm not sure that we need that. We have NateRob, who is the ultimate scoring guard. Someone more well rounded would be great. Maybe a lockdown defender with a sweet outside touch, a la Brucie Bowen.

Smush is probably the best player with legit NBA experience out there. He can shoot the 3 and gets a fair number of stls...

is he really a cancer? maybe, likely?

I don't have the time right now to dig up the 'evidence', but I don't remember many positive things being said about him back in his Laker days.

If I recall correctly, he was a malcontent before he got to the Lakers, lasted two seasons there (in which they didn't win anything) and was booted out of town before things got good again for them. Sure he can shoot, sure he can score, but reading about that valet parking thing isn't good- true or not.

Bottom line is that there is a reason I have this feeling and I fancy myself a pretty rational, reasonable fellow. I'm sure someone else would be able to back this malcontent theory up a bit more than me.

Cancer.

Andre Barrett is small, but I think he is fundamentally sound... definitely an upgrade at backup pg over Roberson. IMO

The Marcus Williams I'm referring to is from Arizona not UConn. Just wanted to be certain that we are on the same page. He is definitely a big wing player. About 6'7 or so. See's the floor well, can handle the rock, is an average man on man defender but plays the passing lanes effectively. His biggest issue, as far as I can tell is an inability to shoot efficiently. Scored well when asked in college, but not sure he is gonna be looked as a legit scoring threat as a pro. Still I think he'd fit in well here under D'Antoni.

Derrick Byars is the kid from Vanderbilt. He can really shoot.. doesn't create much off the dribble, but at 6'7 can create problems when matched up against smaller defenders at the 2. Actually he is a pretty complete player. Does everything well, is tough minded and if given an opportunity I think he'd be a decent pro. Reminds me of a poor mans Mitch Richmond. You know, big frame (husky build) shooting type.. marginally athletic, slow first step... so its hard for him to separate from the defenders consistantly. But, thats not to say that he can't dribble because he actually handles it well. Surprised you never heard of him?

Cool man, thanks for clearing that up. As far as Barret being an upgrade on Nate, I wholeheartedly disagree. If he was, he would be in the league. And NateRob has improved a bunch since he came in.

Either or, I'd take any of those guys when compared to PEjr, someone who people are sentimentally attached to and not evaluating rationally.

In which case, for sure, Barret > Roberson. For sure.
