Nate is needed more to provide relief for Captain Chris Duhon.

In a unique twist, Jeffries was deployed by D'Antoni to advance the ball from the backcourt against the Nets. Chandler was his running buddy in a very effective reincarnation of the BBC. (the big backcourt) Harrington, Lee and Thomas rounded out the frontcourt as D'Antoni is auditioning unique combinations and challenging his players to respond.

Moral of the Berman non-story: D'Antoni does not have "hard" roles for the 1-5 positions. The result: who knows, but it certainly isn't dull.

Knicksfan - who you gunna believe, me... or your lyin' eyes?

If Jeffries brings the ball up tonight I will expect a manly retraction from you.

Jeffries should never be confused with the 37 year-old point guard, also predicted to be on the waiting list at guard.

"The way things are going in Phoenix now, it's unlikely that Steve would sign an extension," a person close to Nash said the other day. "They won't trade him because they would just get killed by their fans. But it will be interesting to see whether he'll be under contract for next season." - NYDaily News

wow. if phoenix doesn't pick up nash's team option, i could see him signing an MLE next summer, as in 2009, to be a ny knick.

Haha, the one time he brought the ball up the court he got trapped by the sideline by one defender and fumbled the ball out of bounds. We actually saw this big lineup for the first time against the Bulls to give Duhon a few minutes to catch his breath. It was very predictable that we would see it again the following night against the Nets as it was a back to back game and Duhon would need some relief and it did create a few mismatches against the Bulls, so why not try it again. I don't remember seeing Jeffries bring it up against the Nets, but he could have.

Go small against the bigger first team and big against the smaller second team - creating mismatches and scoring opportunities with a versatile group is what it's all about. Of course, you could have pointed this out, but I guess you wanted ti pull our chains a little....just had to throw in the cliche for you

Rookie - agreed. No to Steve Nash.

Let Tim Thomas bring the ball up.

Why would anyone have a problem with Nash?

As for the big backcourt, I thought it looked decent enough to give Duhon a break in the Bulls and Nets games. Overall MDA is excellent at creating mismatches and dealing mainly with the strengths of his players, while minimizing their weaknesses. That's the epitome of a great coach. This is why he's getting so much out of this team, despite a less than perfect roster.

Jared isn't a great ball handler, but he can do well enough. As long as he doesn't try to do to much, which he did. He needs to just get it up court and then get it out of his hands. He thinks he can dribble in traffic like a guard. He's not a great passer either.

nixluva - I don't have a problem with anyone who keeps a crib in New York. I have a problem with Nash's advanced age and tread wear.

The remainder of the month could be final auditions for Walsh to determine how he adjusts the active roster in January. The february trade deadline provides the drama.

I'd love to see Walsh make another run at Camby. We know he can bring the ball up.

I'd like to see 26 y.o. Chris Duhon continue to develop, and the price and time is right for him to do just that. Nothing against Nash, but he ain't getting any younger.

Thats a solid reason not to want Nash, to which I say ok.

Now, Nash as a backup in 2010, not bad...

"Hey, Jared just brought the ball across half-court...

sort of...after Duhon was being guarded

of course he then turned it over and then fouled a guy on an and one..."

Gee thanks PresIke

The worst decision would be to put the ball in Jeffries hands. That would be an Isiah-esque decision.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.
