There may be 14 year old's here, and there's no need to misuse the word on this message board. When you're playing pickup games with your boys, that's fine, but this isn't pickup games at the park. ANYONE can see what you're typing and there are Knicks fans of all ages. Not just 21 and up.

You didn't offend me, but just b/c it's the internet and the year 2008, doesn't mean we should let go of our morals. Besides, even when you're using the word rape in bball terms, you used it in the wrong context. In bball terms, it means you got fouled real hard.

It should be left off the public message board.

Look at it like this. This is basically the equilalent of us gathering in an auditorium, with people of both genders, all ages, religions and race. The person starting a thread is the man getting on stage to speak on the mike, and you shout "CRAWFORD RAPED RAY ALLEN!"

How do you think most people would react in that scenario?

Time and a therapist will get the children through this. If only we hold our children a little bit closer. I think it is clear by the context that Jamal Crawford did not forcefully penetrate Ray Allen without consent. I for one consider the headline descriptive prose. Perhaps you can use this as a learning experience to describe the use of hyperbole and metaphor.

As for the basketball, tt was a nice move... but it was a lot of extra action to open up the pass. He had the open shot also that he didn't take. He did even really get the other defender to commit before he passed the ball... but those highlight moves are the type I will miss.
You know I gonna spin wit it

First of all, in basketball terms.. "Rape" just means Abused.. so it can be used in any context... dunking on, fouling, or crossing someone up like Jamal did... Anything you do that abuses/embaress's your defender.

And if someone got on a stage like that and shouted "Crawford raped ray allen" i'd laugh and yell bak "HELL YEA HE DID!!!" lol

Unless of course your sister was raped that afternoon, then of course you would be a little more sensitive than that. We all have different experiences in life. Although I wasn't the least bit offended by the title and laughed when I opened the thread up, I also respect where Allan is coming from. You aren't hanging out with your boys, so sometimes it make sense to choose your words a little differently. Not criticizing, just suggesting.

He should have shot it, but for the record he got an assist out of it as SJAX hit the shot... My main focus was simply on the dribble move forget what it accomplished it was ridiculous lol I don't know why Jamal doesnt use those handles more often it seems like he can do it so effortlessly... He should be able to just dribble his way in and out of any spot on the court so easily but for some reason he lacks that killer instinct to command his talents... Hey thats just him, what can ya do.. Still fun to watch

Yeah you would. Personally I wouldn't be offended, but I'd find it akward, b/c I'd know many other people would be offended and a backlash might even start.

Watch your words.

I clicked this thread looking for rape. All I got was a crummy crossover move. I'm offended.

I just think it's common sense. There are just certain things I try to stay away from when it comes to jokes in a public forum where I don't know everyone. Now, I'm not perfect and have definitely made jokes in these categories I do try to steer away from joking about rape, molestation, suicide etc, because you never know who has experienced that personally. To me, it's just common sense. I've posted with you long enough to know that you have a pretty extensive joke book(not a funny one, but extensive), so it should not be an issue to steer clear of topics that could hurt someone you don't know. I personally know that there is at least one person on this site that has experienced two of these things personally. Maybe I'm just being too protective of them, but I just think it's good practice to steer clear of certain things out of courtesy(not censorship)
I just hope that people will like me
