For all practical purposes 2008 is over. The next two months will include training camp part 2. Here's how it goes over the next 3.

December - the holdover backcourt - Duhon/Nate/Roberson - will have to reacquaint themselves with 4-5 new team members. Half the 8 man rotation will be new guys. Dudes hit each other in tha face with the pill, and the asisst to turnover ratio may not be pretty.

Jared Jeffries returns. It will be curious to watch how D'Antoni integrates the length and ability of Tim Thomas into the rotation, quite possibly at center, with Chandler and Lee sharing minutes up front. Harrington holds down the three spot with QRich seeing minutes at guard. With Randolph gone, Curry has until Christmas before D'Antoni makes the call on his conditioning and Walsh works the phones.

Patrick Ewing Jr is signed to a 10 day contract.

January - The New Knicks (the bootleg tapes) soap opera will play out as James is medically exempted. Danilo Gallinari (hopefully) heals enough to jog and jump without pain. A Walsh decision is made by Ground Hog Day on whether to play or shut down Danilo until Summer League.

February - if D'Antoni can develop a coherant playing personality with the massive turnover he is a magician. A four game winning streak after the trade deadline has the fans at the Garden giddy. Marbury, finally, fades to Bolivian.

One thing is certain as the Wise vigil tests the patience of fans and plays out over the next two seasons...

It won't be dull.

Q. caseloads - are the knicks smart enough to tank so that we can be in the lotto and hopefully have a shot at Jennings or Rubio?

A. Under D'Antoni there will be no such thing as tanking. Any player who even looks disinterested in getting down with the new program will be shunned worse than Marbury.

Q. caseloads - will Gallo literally come Back?

A. Yes, in Summer league, literally and figuratively.

Q. caseloads - Is Wilson for real?

A. The Mayor is for real. Really.

Q. caseloads - Can Jeffries show he has anything left?

A. Compared to what?

Q. caseloads - When will we finally cut Marbury - or at least Hardaway him?

A. February 22

Q. caseloads - Can we please trade David Lee for draft picks?

A. Nope

Q. caseloads - Will Big Game take a medical retirement?

A. Yes, (see above).

We need a real shot at this guy. If we end up in the lottery and we can land one of the top pics, the Knicks need to let him know they will take him and shut his workouts down. This guy will be great and on D'Antoni's system he could go beyond that.

Internationally Known, Regionally Respected and Locally Accepted

Q. 4949 - Who's the answer man?

A. The national chairman of The Wilson Chandler For Mayor campaign since July 2006.

Knicksfan - fuggedabout Mister Jennings. The Knicks desperately need size and depth at center. I would like Walsh to take a chance on Vitor Faverani 7-0 240 from Brazil or 7 footer Jerome Jordan from Jamaica to take the jersey from the current Jerome James.

Im actually not interested in Jennings, but in Rubio. Have you seen any video of him or read about him? He has everything to be the star of the next era and one of the best point guards. The guy is still super young and its amazing what he can already do and how fast he improves. He is definitely made for this team.

I won't mind if we get size if it can play. How many times have teams picked C's just because size is needed and those players end up out of the league? Too many times. I also wonder if D'Antoni would go the route of the traditional center. The way his system works he doesn't need a traditional C. We do need size and if we can draft a real player Im all for it, but only if it really helps run the system and right now I don't know who would be the perfect center for D'Antoni.

A. The prototype physique for the D'Antoni system is a graceful 6'11 cat who can put the ball on the floor with confidence in the open court and hit the open man like Hakeen Olajuwon. He has better than average hops and timing on his jump. He can shoot a step back jumper from 15 feet and cut razor sharp angles to the rack without the ball.

The perfect center for the D'Antoni system would be a healthy 27 year old Marcus Camby.

Judging from the limited reports, both Vitor Faverani and Jerome Jordan seem as decent a candidate as any.

I see they aren't projected to go high in the draft, so if it stays like that maybe we can work out a trade for another first round pick and take one of them, but if that's the case and your original pick is lottery, gotta take a guy like Rubio.

The Knicks will never see Thabeet unless Uncle Junior can get a message to Paulie Walnuts and rig a batch of lottery envelopes.

Expect the unexpected.

You never know. But back to the question:

Would he fit D'Antoni's system? He seems more of a traditional C than a Mike D Center...

Knicksfan - there is nothing traditional about Thabeet. His learning curve is still on the incline and depending upon his passion, and access to an experienced big man mentor, he will be worth watching in any system.

Marv - the only Jerome I dig is the dude who holds the mirror for Morris Day.

Jamaican Jerome Jordan gotta show me some'ting mon... but I like his narrative.

Put Tim Thomas at center and force him to work inside. He is strong enough.

Who does Harrington bump from the starting lineup?

Tim at C bumps Lee and I don't like that if we are indeed thinking on trading him.

Harrington bumps either Q or Chandler, hopefully the first one as The Mayor is the future and needs time to keep developing.

The Knicks New World Order According To Alan Hahn

PG - Duhon
SG - Mobley
SF - Harrington
PF - The Mayor
C - Jeffries (expects to start practicing this week) Lee

"The starting five is suddenly going to be long and athletic with four players who each can hit threes and all five can get up and down the floor with speed. Mobley and Jeffries are a defensive improvement over Crawford/Randolph. But there is no bona fide go-to scorer on the roster anymore and some nights that's going to be an issue."

Off the bench: G Nate Robinson, F David Lee, G/F Quentin Richardson, F Tim Thomas

Key To Locker Room Peace (especially in light of QRich vs Wiz)

"I'm curious to see how D'Antoni uses Q-Rich. You could keep him in the starting lineup and send Chandler to the bench and play Harrington at the four, but Chandler handles the low-post better as a defender and this lineup creates more mismatches. "

Reserves: G Anthony Roberson, F/C Malik Rose, C Jerome James

D'Antoni suddenly has more crayons and more length.

"I don't want the players or fans to think the next two years aren't going to be exciting and let's just wait till 2010. We're going to do everything we can to make the playoffs."

Tim Thomas at center
Al Harrington and Quentin Richardson at forward
The Mayor rests his knee, with David Lee as sixth man
Mobley and Duhon in the backcourt

i'm not sure that referring to someone as "Paulie Walnuts" is appropriate language earl... it may be offensive to walnut eaters.

As an occasional walnut eater, I know I was offended.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.
