He's not going to be the kind of scorer that Billups is but he's at the same age (26) when Billups went from being a journeyman type psuedo-starter to a bonafide leader.

I liked the Duhon because I thought is signified a culture change. A "play the right way" type of guy that shares the ball and playes defense. It also sent a clear message to Marbury and that is certainly working well.

That being said I really underrated him as a player. He takes care of the ball, only takes good shots, is a great passer and facilitator on offense, is an excellent defender and an underrated athlete.

The guy is just a winner. Great signing so far

I would rather have Duhon on my team than Jason Kidd at this point.

funny you mention that. I can see why Cuban would be hot for Steph. I think Steph + Dirk would be a fantastic pick and pop combo. Plus its a better fit with Carlisle. How about we bring in Kidd to be the backup PG?????

I didn't like him with the bulls, but I also undestimated his talent. I always knew he was smart and played hard, but the guy is just a great team player. D'antoni got this one right..

Kidd is one of the all time great PGs of this league but he's done at 35. He still has that savy veteran thing but he was once a great defender and just cant stick anymore.

Duhon doesnt have Kidd's talent but Duhon is definatly a winner and plays like one.

Jason Kidd 2008:
36:42 minutes per game, 10.4 Points Per Game, 46.0% Field Goal percentage, 38.1 3 Point Field goal percentage, 80.0% Free Throw percentage, 7.1 rebounds per game, 8.2 assists per game, 2.8 steals per game, 0.5 blocks per game.

Chris Duhon 2008:
38:00 minutes per game, 9.0 Points Per Game, 39.0% Field Goal percentage, 31.6 3 Point Field goal percentage, 75.0% Free Throw percentage, 3.9 rebounds per game, 7.4 assists per game, 1.4 steals per game, 0.1 blocks per game.

***

Kidd is better at everything, period.

Duhon is playing as well as can be asked of a backup PG. The only reason Duhon is starting is because Marbury is banished.

Let's be serious. Duhon is playing in the biggest numbers system in the NBA and his stats aren't as good as Kidds. Kidd is off to a slow start and he is still better.

In last night's game Kidd came up with so many big plays including a block (Which was recorded as a steal.) on David Lee going in for a dunk, while Duhon disappeared down the stretch after playing great for the first 3/4 of the game.

I guarantee you D'Antoni would take Kidd over Duhon in an instant.

To compare Duhon to Kidd is not fair to Duhon.

Dude, Kidd just came of an all-star season as is putting up great numbers. Is he the same Jason Kidd from 5 years ago? No. But if this is Kidd "done" then I'll take the done Kidd over Duhon having his best career year. (So far over 9 games, let's see if he can keep this up.)

I dunno about being better than Kidd, but Duhon keeps getting better as he gets more acclimated to playing this system. He had a rough first two games, but he is really playing well now. He's kind of like a taller Brevin Knight

Dude.. Kidd is playing like a 35 year perimeter player with a gimpy knee. He has been one of the best players in the league for a very long time but he isnt any more. Also he has a lot of talent on that team to work with.. certainly more than Duhon, I would expect his #s to be slightly better. Do the Knicks have a player as good as Dirk or Howard?

Duhon blew buy Kidd several times yesterday, which is an indictment of Kidd more than praise of Duhon.

Duhon will never be the star that Kidd was, he just doesnt have that kind of talent. He is a winning player, a heady player, a lunchpail guy and a good floor general. It was interesting how in Chi they where at their best with him starting but had more talented players they wanted to replace him with.

on offense Brevin Knight is a pretty good comparison. Much better on D though.

And Devin Harris is far beyond Kidd. I cant believe Dallas let him go for a guy 10 years older. Nuts

Kidd's numbers are not slightly better, they are substantially better, talent notwithstanding. Duhon's numbers are inflated by the D'Anotni system so I think we can eliminate the talent/numbers differential.

No disrespect to Duhon who is better than I thought, but he ain't no Jason Kidd! Kidd on a gimpy knee is still pretty damn good.

Dumb trade by the Mavs though. They trade Harris right before he breaks out! I think Avery Johnson had him bottled up. Once he has been freed his talent and athletic ability is crazy. They should have traded Avery Johnson!

Yeah, he gets GMs drunk so they accept incredibly lopsided trades. Tell him to explain his technique to Walsh, please.

I don't think anyone was wrong about Chris Duhon's talent. There are plenty of more talented guys in the NBA. He is just a team player that has been well coached throughout the years (Coach K, Skiles who gets the most from his guards) that understands the game of basketball. He's the anti-Marbury. Shame we can't merge the two. Regardless, Duhon's importance shows up when you consider he's initiating the new system in place and doing quite well at this.
