Patrick Ewing Jr. popped his head out of the locker room door at the Knicks' practice facility Saturday in full view of reporters, one of whom asked, "What up, Junior?"

"Oh, just working out," he said, dressed from head to toe in team blue practice gear.

Uh-huh.

We call it getting ready to re-up with the team that cut him last month once it does something with Stephon Marbury or someone else.

Junior (who also attended Friday's game against Oke City to visit old Georgetown teammate Jeff Green) said he hasn't made any commitment to play elsewhere, either overseas or in the Developmental League. And either he hasn't gotten an offer from another NBA team (which he'd be foolish to forego) or he's gotten a promise from the Knicks.

We're going with the promise.

So Ewing practices in the Knicks facilities and Marb practices at Lincoln...Amazing. I think they promised Ewing a spot assuming they would have bought Marb out already. But Marb is being Marb and is holding up the party.

The only problem with cutting Roberson is he has a guaranteed two year contract for about 800,000 each year. Then you would have to give Pat Jr. a new contract. I don't think the Knicks want to do that. Maybe if James does not play by the trading deadline he will retire or medical reasons.lol

according to Hoopshype it's a team option for next season... either way if Marbs doesn't accept a buyout for a little less, then ur gonna end up spending the money anyways.

I am still wondering if Marbury will be bought out. Marbury will not except a pay cut and Dolan only wants a buyout at a discount rate. Right now Dolan and Marbury both are playing poker.

yeah looks that way to me too... u know Dolan's not the type of guy to give in when guys challenge him... he'll stick to whatever moronic choice he's made just so he doesn't give the other guy the satisfaction.

that's why i think we should just waive Roberson & add Ewing Jr... the guy's not doing squat for us but playing garbage minutes anyways... at least Ewing Jr would give the fans something to root for & give u the occasional highlight dunk or blocked shot every once in a while... everytime i see Roberson shoot the ball i cringe (even tho he had a decent game last time out when no one was guarding him or anyone else on the floor)

Marbury will be gone in 2 weeks or less. Even if he takes $1 million or so less (which he will make up from the next team) it saves the knicks twice that because they are over the cap. Also they may not want him playing for an eastern conf. team. Its a sign that they are talking. They will work out the details soon and he will be gone.
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

he won't even agree to accept 1 penny less, or haven't u heard his quotes in the past few weeks... this is why he hasn't been bought out yet... Dolan & Marbs are playing poker & neither of them want to give in to the other man's bluff... so right now this is what u get, neither side willing to budge.

I looked at Jr. being let go as the logical choice, money wise. And had no patience for those who cried about his departure (which led to me finally saying that his father sucked! I apologized for that one). But I also said that maybe we could sign him on later. So it looks like it just might happen.

Buyout? It's better than buying millions out and again, do we really need to do this? Fair question.

Do you think they can just break the contract, like they did Brown, take it to NBA court and end up paying less like they did Brown? I mean the entire NBA knows it's a bust contract anyway and it wouldn't hurt the reputation too much.

Nope. Marbury has done nothing wrong. He's in tip top shape. He did everything Walsh and Dantoni asked of him. He's made little to no noise about it.

Maybe if Walsh handled this from the start Marbury would have at least defaulted on a vet minimum in a buyout knowing he'd get that elsewhere. Now that Walsh and DAntoni went from telling Steph to get in shape and he's in their plans - to signing Duhon to start for him - to flat out benching him for good - Marbury has the attitude of well then F-U and give me my full and exact contract amount.

Regardless of what Marbury has done in the past when this idiot franchise tried to turn him into Eric Snow for three consecutive years driving him insane in the process - he's done nothing wrong - and I'm completely on his side that he should be paid his full amount and not a cent less.

Management needs to realize this and stop with the "oh yeah then HAHA you will sit out a whole year LOL" girlish bullcrap. Give the guy his cash and part ways. NOW.

The only squeeze that will happen here is if Marbury pushes the players union to really step in. Seems like it's already started given their lawyers represented him in this latest meeting.

Marbs won't blink and he shouldn't have to. Pay him 22M to get off this team. Don't pay him 22M and act like you're getting the better of him by sitting him.

That's, well, ridiculous. Only we, the Knicks, get hurt here. I don't care if he's deactivated he's still practicing, he's still in the lockerroom, he's still on the bench, still talking....it's harmful to the team.

I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE KNICKS STANDPOINT ON THIS ISSUE ONE BIT BEYOND SIXTH GRADE GIRLS BEING MEAN TO ONE ANOTHER!

Good points. The one time we needed him to be destruction-bury, he fails us again. Go figure and lol.

Agree with keeping Roberson. He fills a role and isn't too bad at $800,000 he is fine. He also shoots the 3 quite well.

3 pt 44.4% in 7 games averaging 8 min/game. Making 1.1 of 2.6 attempts/game.

He fits in very well in his role as 3rd string SG.

A spot will open up soon with either Marbs buy-out/trade or someone else thru trade.
