It's finally come around! That NBAPA contacting Walsh obviously was the kicker here. No way could we just sit Marbury for 82 games NO WAY that's not fair to the player at all. So now it's going to come to an end!

*****************************************

Friday's edition of the New York Post reports that Stephon Marbury and Donnie Walsh had 45 minutes of "preliminary discussions" about a contract buyout that would end Marbury's time as a Knick.

Marbury does not have an agent and was represented at the meeting by National Basketball Players Association attorney Hal Biagas.

Marbury requested permission to talk with other clubs, a wish that Walsh is expected to grant soon. Marc Berman cites a team source saying that Marbury could be a free-agent in a week.

The Heat and Celtics may have interest in bringing Marbury aboard. But as a condition of granting permission to find a new employer, Walsh may want Marbury to agree that he will not sign with an Eastern Conference team. Marbury reportedly would like to play for the Spurs.

The Knicks would be expected to sign Patrick Ewing Jr. to fill their available roster spot.

OH. GOD. YES!

But does anyone here believe Marbury's word? I don't. He'll go wherever they'll let him play the most, and I'm willing to bet it's MIA

Shouldn't we trade him? An expiring contract might bring back something of value.

No doubt in my mind this was the plan.

Steph says "I'm not taking a penny less." Coach Pringles sits his ass on the bench, deactivated, making him suffer and squirm while our Knicks win games and it looks like that worked. Yes, it's devious, cold-hearted and unfair but DW and Coach Pringles felt this was a necessary action for business and the good of the team.

You said that with flavor.

I agree, it had to be the plan. They were not breaking any union rules. Lots of guys sit, but not stars. That is embarrassing to him I bet. Steph already has a bit of a bad rep. So, you sit him. If he explodes and complains he just reaffirms that attitude. Not to mention, can he handle sitting on a team with a winning record?

Think about that, can anyone imagine him sitting while we go to the playoffs? Not that we are going, but we are winning and that must be tough for him. I feel for the guy but he sort of had this coming. Wish him well though.

Right, Walsh told Marbury to come to camp in shape and ready to play, D'Antoni played his, D'Antoni sits marbury in a surprise to everybody, and almost a week later Walsh says that he did not expect Marbury to be sat and he has to talk to D'Antoni about it to find out why....

All in an attempt to buy out Marbury which they could have initiated at any point.

Yes, this intricate plan was all cooked up from the git-go! And why...?

Playa, is that you?

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Last year Marbury quit on this team. This year, the team quit on him. How is that devious, cold hearted or unfair. The tail isn't wagging the dog any more. Marbury will do what's best for himself. I would bet that it's getting pretty uncomfortable for him to be around the team.

Marbury: 'Nothing's going on'
ESPN Radio's Andrew Marchand -- a loyal Fixer, as you all know and a hard-working field reporter -- caught Stephon Marbury this morning at the team's shoot around and confronted him about the reports that he and the Knicks are working toward a buyout.

Here is the transcript. The interview aired on ESPN Radio this morning.

Marchand: What’s your hope coming out of the meeting with Donnie?

Marbury: “Nothing’s going on right now.”

Marchand: Berman wrote you were discussing a buyout and it could be done within the next week:

Marbury: “Nothing is going on.”

Marchand: So the story is wrong?

Marbury: “Nothing’s going on right now”

Marchand: Did you meet with Donnie?

Marbury: “Yeah, I met with Donnie. Nothing’s going on. Everything’s the same.”

Marchand: Do you expect anything to change in the near future?

Marbury: “I don’t know.”

Marchand: Did you ask Donnie if you can talk to other teams?

Marbury: “Nothing is going on right now.”

Marchand: How should I take that as?

Marbury: “Write what you wanna write and say what you wanna say. I don’t know. Nothing’s going on right now.”

Marchand: Was that the first time you guys have met since the summer?

Marbury: “That was the first time we met where we were talking.”

The interview ended there.

god almighty it will never end lol

"nothing's going on right now". Is that the new "Both teams played hard"?

No, it's the same old same old - "I want all my money"

Soon as Marbury realizes that as long as Walsh is paying him 'all his money' he has no incentive to do anything with him except keep him around in case there is an injury and we need him. In other word, nothing's going on right now.

It's a staring contest and Walsh has no reason to blink. He holds all of the cards.
