I dont get it. I have traditionally been a passive person in this forum and when I read the articles in the post about the knicks. However this year it has been out of hand with everyone screaming for the knicks to play Steph. I cant stand it and wanted to start this thread and get a feel for how everyone feels.

The way I see it, Marbury is out of sight, out of mind. This is a rebuilding year. He wont be here next year, and we havent been able to trade him to any team without taking on another contract so of course we cant dump him. He wants to get paid his full contract, so if thats the case, why release him and have him be competition against our team?

We are rebuilding so we need to see the players that have deals that last longer than one year on the team. We want to see how they fit into the system and who doesnt fit in the system. That way in the coming years Dantoni will know what pieces are needed to start building this franchise in the right direction. I agree that benching MArbury is a distraction, but its a necessary evil and we will learn so much about this team. We arent going to the playoffs, this year, but when we lose a game like last night I see people posting all over that Marbury should play!

WHY? WHY? What do we benefit??? We arent going anywhere??? Screw him, he deserves to be on the bench for his awful attitude last year. Self proclaimed best PG in the NBA. Dantoni and Walsh are moving on and steering this franchise in the right direction the rest of the knicks fans need to understand that and get on board. Yes, I would prefer this Steph story, the distraction it is, to not exist, but thats not an option. The cleanising and retooling of the knicks has begun and I couldnt be more excited. They look like a real team for the first time in a long time all without STEPH.

i think ur about a week late w/this thread, but i agree w/u completely... i don't get why anyone would wanna see Marbury playing at this point, he's been nothing but a negative presence on this team ever since we traded KVH away.

I figured I missed the train on this one, but reading the post today about how Marbury wants to play for the spurs bothered me so much. It wasnt the article that bothered me, it was the morons that were posting comments, numerous "knick" fans that were screaming out for Marbury to play. I just dont get it!

What's to love about Marbury?

1.) His interviews. Always entertaining.
2.) His statements and his way with words (Juice Card... Excape Goat... etc.)
3.) He likes trucks... And interns.
4.) Things are always interesting when Marbury's involved

Those are the things I like about Marbury. I understand that he plays basketball sometimes too, but that's secondary.

Maybe you are right about this sudden love for Marbury.
As for me, I just think we would be doing better with him instead of Duhon, thats all my "love" for him.

The love for Marbury and Isiah has been very confusing. These guys get a lot of support for some fans even though they haven't earned it. And don't be mistaken, at least half of this board still loves both Isiah and Marbury; it's just not so popular to say so, so they often don't.

Half this board does not love Isiah.

Two reasons why there's a sudden love for Marbury..

1. Whether you want to admit or not, Marbury CAN help this team win under MDA. (I, for one, believe the Knicks could have beaten the Spurs if Marbury with in the rotation)

2. If the Knicks have any plans on trading Steph before the deadline...then he HAS to play. It doesn't matter if it's 20 minutes or 40 minutes. He needs to be show cased

I'm with the folks that don't get it. Marbury has had plenty of chances to help the team win and hasn't done it. Why is this year going to be different then any other?

I for one don't "love" Marbury or IT. I will say though that we should have resolved the Marbury situation earlier but the problem probably stems from the fact that he wants 100% of his money. IT did a terrible job and it is clear that he had to go. I am happy though with his draft picks of Chandler, Lee, and Nate. Now if we could get rid of his mistakes, i.e. Curry, we would be in good shape.

Was it Marbury that came up with the term "Juice card?"

PS: Why does Marbury have to be traded before the deadline? Why can't we just let his contract burn?
