The guy who might be the all time worst draft picker in this history of the NBA--he's terrible--I said it when we hired him. I'd rather see the dorks at realgm make the pick --it couldnt be much worse.

The gallanarri pick was decided before walsh got here, all our scouts did a tun of reasearch on him and had a tun of info on him. D'Antoni and Walsh just gave it a final "OK" but the wole organization was huge on him long before we hired Gabriel

Not that concerned - all of our subsequent drafts will be joint decisions with Walsh and D'Antoni having major imput. Remember D'Antoni passed on Lee in Phoenix - he'll have a big say in who's drafted..

Is that good? If we had just offered Thabeet the pick with a guarantee we would be in a lot different position today. He wasn't going to come out without a top guarantee--we needed a guy to clog the lane so desperately--how are you really going wrong by picking an athletic 7-3 National defensive player of the year player on a team that hasn't played defense in 8 years?

Go look for an obscure 6-11 SF from Norway because that is the type of guy that they want.

Briggs you seriously have to cut down your knee-jerk reactions. Do you ever make say anything that is not based off some serious knee-jerk reaction?

PS: Gabriel was hired after the draft.

What is the knee jerk reaction? reality? We took a high risk pick and were getting burned. We hired Gabriel after the draft for future draft and he scks--what isnt correct?

I'm quite affable:) But I can't stand by after 8 years and say golly jeez with this continued incompetence. Forget bad luck--we've been materially incompetent and as a die hard fan for almost 35 years---with all of this money spent in the best city in the world--Im sick of the disgrace that is going on. We shouldve never hired a 67 YO GM and we were not ready for a Dantoni coach when we really have to rip it up. Even I was mystified by 4-2 but reality is it's jumpshooting and when you live with the jumpshot as your main weapon--you have no chance.

I'm not sure anyone would be that thrilled with Chris Mihm as our starting center

You know I love the Knicks, but this OJ Mayo thing is really getting to me something serious. I mean really. He was right there, one slot ahead!

The Knicks failed to land us our draft superstar. I was screaming about it on draft night and now depression is settling in.

A Mayo pick could have righted a lot of wrongs and recorrected our ship

It sucks but can't go back now. We tried to make the trade but just couldn't pull it off. It was a tough year to win 23 games. Normally that's good for a top 3 but somehow we end up at 6.

Everything I read about the draft suggested that Walsh was doing whatever he could to get Mayo. Whether it was trading Lee or whatever, I got the sense that Donnie knew how important it was to get a young star in the making here.

If that is all true, then I think you have to at least have some faith in Donnie and his judgment of players. I wanted Mayo here badly and as much as I love Lee, I was willing to not only trade him, but package him with other things to move up and grab Mayo. With that said, we didn't/couldn't get him. So we have to move on.

its an obvious knee-jerk reaction to Danillo having a MRI and not traveling with the team. How are we getting burned? Because hes injured? hes 20.. big deal. He will heal. Relax

we'd have a young championship core of Andrew Bynum, Marcus Williams, Michael Sweetney & Jerryd Bayless... so far only 1 of them has done anything in the NBA worth talking about... but then we'd also have those awesome vets like Shareef Abdur Rahim, Darius Miles & Steve Francis to provide the glue to the finished product, so there's the silver lining.

btw Gabriel has a history of being able to dump cap killing contracts during seasons where bigname FA's become available... he cleared enough cap in '99 for the Magic to sign T-Mac & Grant Hill when they were both premier level talent in the NBA... things didn't work out obviously in Orlando but i don't think he'll be in charge of signing players anyway so who cares? Donnie could use all the help & all the creative ideas he can get to get this team under the cap in 2010.

I know you were not here but here were my following picks

2002-Amare Stoudemire our pick 7
2003 I picked out Wade Kaman and Bosh during the college season --go look it up I picked Sweetney at 9 because the other guys wouldve/were gonzo
2004 I picked out Josh Smith as the third best prospect in the draft who went 17[no pick]
2005 Andrew Bynum our pick 7
2006 Marcus Williams when he fell [pick 21]
2007 Morris Almond pick 22

If we took Amare Stoudemire--we would not even be in the lottery all of these years. Not bad. Two potential franchise players picked 2 identified 2 allstar calibers and the last two are unkowns. Sweetney has mental issues
