Aside from the draft and getting a chance at Brandon Jennings? This kid needs to be starting somewhere....

As far as the Knicks? This kid is good enough to start ahead of Nate Robinson and truly "run" an uptempo offense. He's proved it already but for some reason the guy is not in Nate McMillens plans....

I would ab-so-lute-ly <<<3 Seegio on the Knicks. I completely agree that he has the talent to lead an up tempo style of offense. In fact, I know it!

I would be all for a Rodriguez/Robinson swap. Makes a lot of sense. The Blazers need that sparkplug off the bench, Nate has a lot of talent in that role, and he played his college ball at Washington, so the fans would be pretty excited to get him back.

For the Knicks, they don't want to extend him, need a lead point, and can get a guy who has the potential to be a strating point in the NBA. I'd do that trade, though I don't expect it to be popular.

whoa I didnt say swap Nate for Sergio!!!!

My point is Nate is better than Duhon in all phases even running the offense. So its a crime Nate isnt starting. In Sergio's case? Sergio may not be a better overall player but as far as running a team as a true point guard? Sergio would deserve the start over Nate and it would be greatly justified.

To have a real point guard playing for the Knicks is my dream!!! Knicks havent had a real point guard since Rod Strickland. Ron harper, Doc Rivers, Ward, and Childs were very steady and sometimes brilliant. Marbs was too self absorbed.

Please someone in the Garden go free Sergio!!!!

I know we all think Lee may allow us todump a salary, but a trade of Lee/Rose/Collins for Sergio/Frye/Diogu would be nice.

They get a guy they've been after in Lee + an expiring contract + a PG that MacMillan will like better than Sergio (but will also be benched). We get an offensive PG, plus a couple of decent front court guys.

I'm quite sure the salaries don't match but I'm down to trade something to get Sergio. Just not Nate, Wilson or Gallo.

i think i would do this if they threw in a #1 pick in 2009 or 2010.

How about this trade?

DLee, Nate and Mardy for Sergio, Rudy Fernandez and Outlaw?

We get shooters and a dunker.

they get Special nate and DLee.

Do they even want DLee. I really don't see a need for Lee from a Portland stand point.

I'm not sure what kinda combination can be worked between us and Portland, but you guys know where I stand on this guy by now - I think he's a very talented, exciting, pass-first PG who also can score the ball. D'Antoni and the Garden fans would love this kid. I agree he should be starting (he's a better player than Steve Blake) but yeah, for whatever reason, Nate McMillan doesn't love him.

NYKBocker, you're not getting Sergio, Rudy AND Outlaw (I don't think so anyway - McMillan loves Fernandez and Outlaw) for that package, esp. with Webster hurt right now. But I could see something along the lines of what Purple suggested - Lee, Rose and Collins for Sergio, Frye and Diogu. That could work. I love Sergio's game and I know this might sound nuts but I actually wouldn't mind trying out Frye again to be honest. He's soft, but he's got a lot of offensive ability - if D'Antoni got a hold of this kid, who knows. All he needs to do is play tougher overall, show us a willingness to mix it up underneath and rebound the ball - all things he should be doing anyway (there are plenty of bigs in the league with half the talent Frye has that at least give you the hustle, bang and play hard) - but the size and the skill level is there (say what you want but he's actually got more God-given talent and skill than David Lee). He's been disappointing, no doubt, but in my mind, there's really no reason why he shouldn't be as good as LaMarcus Aldridge if he ever gave maximum effort.

You might have a better chance if you pleaded with Donnie Walsh instead of people on the UltimateKnicks website

did some espn tradechecker work during lunch... most realistic scenario i could come up with is Q and malik for rodriguez and raef lafrentz (expiring deal). not a whole lot in it for portland, unless they see Q as a vet contributor to help hold that team together. i couldn't make it work trying to put nate or another of our young guys in there, the salaries wouldn't match and all the small filler-size contracts they have are for, like, really good young players.
