What is Walsh's trade record as a GM? I'm starting to get that sinking feeling that he doesn't have the stomach for for it. While I would like to see some movement of players from this current team, the press always asks the question...."so who made the better trade?" Since Knicks players aren't exactly in demand around the league, the odds are definitely not in our favor to make a favorable deal. Does Walsh have the stomach to be criticized in the press for getting the short end of the stick, even if it will benefit the team in the long run? I hope so, otherwise it will be March and we will have only made a few minor no impact deals. I hope I am wrong.

If Walsh didn't have thick skin Marbury would be starting or playing.

Walsh has a history of trading away beloved players in their organization and striking it rich.

1989 – Trades Herb Williams to Dallas Mavericks for eventual Sixth Man of the Year Detlef Schrempf. Herb was a fan fave back in Indiana.

1999 - Trades fan fave Antonio Davis for the 5th pick of the draft. Well, this became Jonathan Bender but he got a lottery pick.

2000 – Trades Dale Davis to the Portland Trail Blazers for Jermaine O'Neal. Another fan fave with one of the Davis boys for an unproven player.

2002 – Trades Jalen Rose and Travis Best for Brad Miller and Ron Artest (with Kevin Ollie and Ron Mercer). Jalen Rose was being bandied about as the next Magic Johnson.

Walsh is fine. He is just being careful. A welcome change from Popcorn man.

The Pacers would have won the Championship if they didn't move Davis who became an allstar.

But the schrempf and rose moves were nice moves.

Thanks for the history and vote of confidence on Walsh.

Here's what I know of him so far:

Trades Weiss of 'dunk of death' fame for Ewing jr./cuts Ewing jr.

Selects Gallinari with the 6th pick in the first round/Tractor Traylor levels him and we haven't seen him since except for a short cameo appearance. He is only signed to a 2yr. contract

Signs Duhon and Roberson.

Trades Balkman in a salary dump for Green and Jones and a 2nd rd. pick in 2010. Green and Jones are waived.

So what has he really done so far???

he just might be adding "2008 - Trades fan fav David Lee for ..." to that resume... just hope the "..." isn't another starphuch.

Actually, when he broke up that pacers team, one of the better moves- especially compared to how the Knicks kept trying to win long past the prime of many players.

Its hard to know when to break up a group and restock. I think we can agree Walsh did nicely in this regard.

hired MDA. Leveled with Marbury. What do you expect him to do in like 4+ months? it's not like he has got a ton of talent which he can trade.

Leveled with Marbury.

I think the quote was something like "i want to understand why and if there is a valid reason why MDA isn't playing Marbury".

Seemed a little out of touch on that one

With all due respect, please be patient. This is going to take a few years to undo. Isiah was a trade whore for his first two years and it added up to one big pile of crap. He turned a pile of crap into a mountain of crap.

I think Walsh by being cool has seen Zdumbs value go up and will get good value when he decides to pull the trigger. The marbury situation is not winable by either. Eddie is also another problem that simple trades cannot undo without compounding the situation.

If our problems started with the mishandling of Ewings expiring then we must not repeat that execution.

Don't forget Glen Rice surge in productivity and sudden demise (Got off roids???)is a good example of being impatient. We must not get players who don't project well do to physical problems.

I have to agree... and the team he made from that rebuild turned out to be one of the best in the NBA a few years later. If it wasn't for the brawl, that team may have won the championship.

I'd still like to put a legit center and a slick outside shooting guard on my Christmas wish list.

just trade D Lee & Nate to the Clips for Camby & their #1 & have Roberson fill some of Nate's minutes off the bench... put Jamal back as the 6th man off the bench, start Camby & Zach in the frontcourt, Chandler at the 3 & a backcourt of Q Rich & Duhon & u have a much improved defensive team this year as well as 2 high 1st round picks to stock up our talent pool for next season... u also no longer have to worry about extending Nate or D Lee's contracts & still have instant offense off the bench in Jamal.

Jamal??????? yeah sure, when he decides to show up and play...or when he's 'feeling it'. What the Knicks need is consistency, something they'll never get from Jamal. Besides, he is about as out of touch with reality as you can get. Here is a quote from Jamal that I just love:

NEW YORK, March 15 (UPI) -- New York Knicks center Eddy Curry is out for the season, preparing for surgery on his right knee.

Recovery from the arthroscopic operation to remove a piece of torn cartilage is expected to take four to six weeks, the New York Daily News reported. The season ends April 16.

"It's over now for him and he can go ahead and concentrate on getting healthy, and come back and be better next year," teammate Jamal Crawford said. "With most big guys, they average 13 and seven and they're coming into their own. But with Eddy, it's like it's a down year and I agree because Eddy expects more of himself than anybody else does ... . He'll be better next year."

as if Nate's the picture of consistency himself? face it dude, we have a lot of inconsistent players on this roster... Jamal in a 6th man role is fine for him... u don't demand consistency out of a 6th man anyways... that's why i'd be fine w/starting Q Rich & Duhon in the backcourt (not like Q's a picture of consistency himself either, but we don't have many other options now do we?)

You think Jamal's inconsistent now, put him in a back-up role and you'll have to take his pulse to make sure he's alive.

So you want to finally clear the MSG building from the fans?
