Still no starting center. New frontcourt players young and will take time to develop.

Best playoff hope is 7th or 8th seed, based on MIL dropping off the list; D.C., TOR and CHI not very good but NYK not much better, N.O. will have tough time without Silas.

42-40, 8th seed. Dolan will be happy and Layden will keep his job.

It all depends on Dice. If he plays well I have the KNicks winning 47 games. If he is not available I see them 38 to 42 wins. I still think the main goal for next year should be to get the young players time.

Playoffs definately !!! 6th - 8th seed !!! H20 & KVH will avg. 20+ pts per game & KVH will avg 7-9 rebs a game !!! Anyone want to bet on any of this ???
What does DICK CHANEY & DON CHANEY have in common ?? They both accidentally fell into a job they don't deserve & really suck at doing it !!!! Both need to be fired !!!

46-36. That is with Dice playing 75 games this year. Also i still think they r going ot make a trade especially if they really think Dice will play this year. They have way to many fowards and no guards at all. Also i think frank williams will contribute this year.
They will be the 6-7 seed and could win in the first round of the playoffs.

The main purpose of this season SHOULD be to get Lampe, Sweets and Fwill COURT TIME! If Dice is healthy that will impact the time of Lampe and Sweets SO A TRADE MUST BE MADE in order to get them time. We CANNOT be playing SPOON/Knight or Doleac ahead of those guys.

If Dice is healthy, they will make the playoffs. As someone said NO and Mil are down. Miami and Toronto are up. Miami is still not good enough up front if NY has DIce. If Carter is not 100%, Toronto will falter again.

With Dice: 43-39
NO DICE: 33-49

Yep, a 10 game difference if it is the real DICE!!!

Also I was thinking that with DICE, KVH will actually be more of an asset as he has a better outside game than Spree. KVH can also post up his opposing 3, allowing DICE some off-side advantages.

Defensively this team is a joke. The perimeter D is swiss Cheese and they have no intimidation at the rim. This is why they need Sweets to play and dominate with his long wing span.....

0-82

After reading so many posts about how bad we are, I cannot ever see us winning a game until Laydog is buh-bye. Some posts the last year has left me so depressed I could shoot myself.........

Ok, maybe 30-52.

No playoffs, back to lotto.

I have no idea about Dice what so ever. I am no knee specialist, so I don't know how he responds. He is rusty, his conditioning will suffer early, so this fan is not arrogant enough to "FEEL" anything as to what he does. I wish him well and hope the team has done well by him.

I have very low expectations of this team. I would derive great entertainment value in watching the rookies play and learn.

But there would be blow outs and people would boo. So what while we want to see developement, which is the right thing, what do we do about the booing? I don't know, but we cannot have it both ways.

People pay to see good games, fans chat about what they want. There is a conflict.

Just using common sense:

This is still basically the same team that has won an average of 33 games a year the last two years--albeit two years older! Mcdyess miracles? I doubt it. So if we add 1+1,the answer is we have a losing team anyway. You cant have a transitional rebuilding any other way. It just doesnt make sense to keep a Ward at 6.5MM when the market says hes worth 1mm and Frank Williams is in need of development--and if he is NOT good enough bring in a smush parker et al into camp to go head to head with Frank. It doesnt make sense to play 33 year old Weatherspoon in a core unit anymore when we have 20 year old Sweetney.
Lampe also needs 15 -18 minutes a night AT A MINIMUM even to take bumbs and bruises. This team is very likely to lose anyway, so if you are going to lose you NEEdto get something out of the losing. How can you rebuild if you dont play the younger players at the expense of players who havent won??????? What team has ever been a real winning team with so many question marks? I think fans would rather see more of Sweetney and Lampe than Weatherspoon and Doleac. Andthe teamneeds toknow if Frank Williams is going to be a player or not. I said I watched Smush Parker atleast 5 times last year and in his limited minutes--he was a great prospect as a PG measuring 6-4 with serious athletiscm and a nice jumper. There is no way I would EVER pay Charle Ward 6.5mm.It's 400-500% above market for a guy who plays 60 games and 20 minutes.

Somewhere down the line the Knicks are going to have to make a bold move away from the vets. This is something they have gone against for for a long time but during the course of the season if Dice isn't healthy they are going to have to say to hell with it. Start Lampe, Sweetney and Williams for the rest of the year. If that day comes I will be the first to support such a move. Even if Dice is healthy I would at least welcome LAmpe and Williams thrown in the starting lineup. A front court of KVH, Lampe and Dice I think will no doubt make things happen. Thats why I wouldn't mind moving KT it opens up room for Sweetney too to back up Dice.

If Dice is in out then I wouldn't mind going into games with a starting lineup of KVH, Lampe, Sweetney, HOuston and Williams. With KT coming off the bench. KT can back up Sweetney and Lampe and is the ideal sixth man. Doleac and Vranes can come in for spot duty at the center position and on occasions play along side KT.

If thing are bleak and the team isn't responding than I would definitely consider playing the youth of the team more minutes.

Briggs, Vmart,

I agree, but what happens if the boo birds come out. I mean logic dictates we play our kids, but losing or losing big will brew an unglyness.

30-52 is about right.

I don't think that fans will be hard on the rooks, but Allan better have a good year to avoid the boos. KVH is almost a lock to catch all hell this year and crack under the pressure.

Even if Dyess comes back, he's been gone too long to produce like he need to in order for the Knicks to get anywhere outside the lottery. Maybe the ping-pong balls will fall in our favor this year.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

How can you say that the Knicks will only have 30 wins. The only legitmate threat in the east is NJ(only if mourning pays well).
the knicks do have a good team...
Houston (22-24ppg)5ast
Dyess(20ppg)10rbs
Lampe(12-16(ppg)8-10rbs
Sweetney(10-15 ppg)8-10rbs
Eisley (12-18ppg,7ast)
Van Horn(17-20 ppg)8-10rbs
Thomas(15-22)ppg 10rbs

All of these players are capable have having the above stats....houston will shine without spree.. dice has something to prove now.... lampe will do awesome this year. he also has somehting to probe... van horn... ify about, but if he does fit it, he is capable of these stats....thomas has always given us those stats....

I say 45 wins... 37 losses.... 6-8th seed playoffs maybe even better..!!!!

Listen up clones! NY will win about 43-39 games this yr and will make the playoffs. How quick to forget we had the (DICE)second and third highest(SPREE) paid guys out with an injury at the beginning of the season plus Williams sprained his wrist in summer league. This season will be a little better with the knicks playing extremely hard for CHANEY. Sweets and Lampe will put a wrinkle into the knicks offense with low post play and with that KVH and Houston will knock down timely shots.Frank Williams will be most improved knick this season.

Andrew, Martin...

Let's pin this thread so everyone's prediction stays up all season. Hopefully you can disable the edit and delete functions on the thread so the fickle ones can't switch up.
