A source close to Denver Nuggets guard Allen Iverson is telling people in Denver that he expects to be traded to the Detroit Pistons for Chauncey Billups.

Iverson makes $20 million this year. Billups makes half. The deal can not be executed unless the Pistons involve more players to match the Iverson cap figure.

Billups, a Denver native, has seemed opened minded to finishing his career back home.

What the point for Pistons?

I don't get this myself. Billups is better than AI. Maybe Dumars is desperate enough to want Zach too?

Getting back to EC finals, freeing cap space.

Just to add to the first report..

The Pistons have reached a tentative agreement with the Nuggets to trade Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyess in exchange for Allen Iverson.

They get cap room next year and I think Iversen is better than Billups. Now they can move Stuckey and Maxiell up on the chart as well. I think this might be a mutually good trade in some sense because Mcdyess adds a true good third big and their porous defense gets better,

Great deal for the Pistons. They get to roll the dice for one year with AI, then turn the point over to Stuckey the following year. That's the point for the Pistons.

Nuggs can now start Billups and JR Smith in backcourt with Melo, KMart, Nene. That's a HUGE lineup. With McDyess, Lieza, Juwan Howard, Anderson, Carter off bench. Not bad.

Nuggets certainly get better with this deal.

Where does this leave Iverson after this season? I doubt that Detroit is going to sign him back.

Great roll of the dice by Dumars...have gone as far as they can go with this squad as currently constituted and they dont have commit to A.I as his deal is close to expiring.

Billips could help to stabilize the Nuggets. Solid trade on both ends for two franchises looking to shake things up

not too many teams with cap space either (I think). Could be good scenario for sign and trade.

Yeah I agree. I just wonder who would want him? Maybe Don Nelson and the Warriors? Would Philly want him back? I can't think of too many coaches that would want to take on a AI type personality to their team. He's probably only interested in signing with a contender too.
