On Sunday night Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni took a few subtle shots at former team president and coach Isiah Thomas for what he created in New York.

"We're trying to navigate some waters that really are muddy, and we didn't muddy them," D'Antoni said. "They were already muddied."

Two of Isiah's signature moves, trading for Stephon Marbury and Eddy Curry, have created huge issues for the Knicks this season.

He knew what he was handed before signing the contract. He needs to just STFU and deal with the cards handed to him. I welcomed his sarcasm at first but with that statement he just appears to be making excuses.

Nobody from outside NY was able to even imagine what a ****ty organization and team was created by Dolan/Isiah and Co.
It is amazing to me that there are people (Walsh and D'Antony) who are confident enough to take this disaster and try to make something from nothing. But... they had no idea. Now they are getting reality check.

how is it BS? I really dont get some of the posts about how this is all more of the same. I mean the new regime has just started. If people dont like the draft pick ok fine, but thats certainly premature also.

Whats new management supposed to do? This franchise has been set back a generation because of quick fix moves. What needs to happens is this whole thing needs to be evaluated. All these player's value needs to be determined. This thing needs to be cleaned out, but we also cant afford to sell for .25 on the dollar.

This is going to be a painful process but MD and Walsh are right to say they inherited a total disaster with very little current value.

To answer the bold: Either break it down for real, or try to win for real. Stop with the trying to do both at the same time, and stop with sending messages. Just pick a strategy and play ball.

Just like Thomas I would have never made that KVH/Sprewell trade, traded for Esley and Anderson. Or my favorite signed a undersized PF like Spoon. It is the water at MSG. Keep passing the buck.

The best thing about getting fired from New York is that the next guy gets to assume all the blame.

how would you have gone about trying to "break it down for real"? how would that have looked different at this stage?

MDA likes to gab with the press. my impression is that guys like LB and IT had an agenda when making comments like that, he's just kind of going off the top of his head. but anyway he's still on his grace period in my book, two crummy losses don't change that.

cosign that reply. There is no magic wand. You have to get rid of the Isiah regime. Isnt that process going on now? Mardy Collins and Chris Duhon are getting Marbury's minutes because they are looking to the future.

They have tickets to sell and its NY so they arent going to come out and say that they are tanking but does anyone really feel like MD and DW are all about winning games?

It would look something something like this:

Robinson/Chandler/Lee/Randolph/Galinari.
Mardy Collins and Chris Duhon are getting Marbury's minutes because they are looking to the future.

That is looking to the future? How is that looking to the future any more than playing Marbury with his expiring contract? How is Crawford getting major minutes looking to the future? Or playing Q major minutes? Or Jeffries when he gets back?

You can't just decide to look at one piece of the picture. That is just rationalizing.

as a matter of fact, playing Marbury so other teams could get a good look at how in shape and effective he is would be a lot more forward-looking than watching Duhon and Craford suck.

D'Antoni is confused. The waters aren't muddy. They're choppy.

Cap'n Zeke, as we all know, did his best to navigate the stormy seas of the last few seasons. He tried to assemble the best crew possible under the circumstances.

He ran the ship aground.

Now that Cap'n D'Antoni has taken the helm, he must assume all responsibility for the performance of the crew. I don't think Admiral Walsh would have put him in command if he didn't have full confidence in him. But this blaming of the previous Cap'n - that's just unseemly.

To me it was simple. They needed to rebuild the team by brick and mortar stone by stone from the top back. I never thought Lopez would slide from 3--I didnt even consider it--I didnt consider him a Knick prospect because I thought he was gone. But in terms of the bricks--Lopez wouldve given us a solid foundation of a 7 foot back to the basket C who can score rebound and block shots--everything else can be built through that. I have no frikin clue why we had to go fancy there on a pick that really needed to be conservative and needed. I think if we had taken Marc Jackson as a guy do help rebuild this thing he wouldve been the pick. Even Toronto got it--yes you need the three pt shooters to spread the floor but without the brick and mortar inside game you ARE not winning. We have no shot blockers two guys who appear 6-8 starting[they are great rebounders but one is a hog and one is limited and robotic] and we have given up on Curry. This team is a F mess.

Only time the garbage is going to be cleaned out is when all of them are in their final year. It looks like a good two to three year project. What bothers me right now is why Gallo and Chandler aren't getting more run. Its pretty obvious that the Knicks are rebuilding. If they are going to do that then the best way to go about is throw your young player into line of fire.
